I have looked through other threads, however my hunt is logistically not the typical boat or lodge based SEAK hunt and I have a few questions for those willing to share.

Basic Hunt Outline: Rental Truck - Combination of hiking/driving roads and using pack rafts for water access - undecided if we will camp or stay in cabin/AirBnB/hotel.

Pack Rafts: Based on my research, Alpacka rafts seem to fit the bill best in terms of quality, price and function. I'm thinking the Mule would be best but may be able to get by with the caribou??? I have also seen DIYpackraft.com but am fearful of dealing with a leaky boat on this trip. Has anyone built one of their rafts??? I am also seriously considering using backcountrypackraft.com to rent the rafts. Has anyone rented from them or some one else??? Should I buy alpacka rafts, do they have a good resale value???

Shelter: I am considering camping instead of a cabin/hotel so that we can be more mobile and move camp when needed. I am considering like an 8 man floorless tipi or similar to keep travel weight and size down. Is this type of shelter sufficient??? Would a Ti stove be of any use or is starting a fire a lost cause unless we buy wood somewhere??? We would also have the truck available to try and dry some gear out. Any other shelter style recommendations or considerations???

Waders/HipBoots: As we will potentially be hiking into areas, our waders/hipboots need to be somewhat light and packable. Being in packrafts, should we use full waders, hipboots, wading pants??? Any quality/affordable options.

Rain Gear: We will be bringing at a minimum Gortex lightweight rain gear (sitka dewpoint or similar). Should we also bring more of a traditional style PVC or other material rain gear???

If you have any input to any of these questions or other things not listed I appreciate it. Don't have a ton to spend on this hunt but trying to make the most of it given our limited budget.

Hey man honestly as someone who lives in SEAK, if you want to have an almost guaranteed chance of you and a couple buddies tagging out on a couple bears I would skip the rental car/ and packraft and just rent a boat out of the closest town, the bears are cruising the beaches in spring in search of food and sows. I’m not sure what island/town you’re flying into but you can rent a boat for almost the same cost as renting a truck and buying a new packraft/ tipi.
There are also a bunch of forest services cabins all around SEAK that you can access by boat and rent out for like $35 a night
