The 6.5 Swede in a tikka just seems right. Keep it Nordic

That's why I flagged it since you were talking about maximizing 6.5 and 7mm calibers on a tikka action with a standard bolt face. Plus you were talking about changing the shoulder angle, etc. which a 284based case already has inherently.I have. It is another tempting option that is clost to ideal for a Tikka action.
That is very interesting. How is velocity in 18-20 inch barrels? It would be hard to beat a 6mm Remington in the Tikka action for performance and accuracy with minimal recoil. Hornady brass is easy to find as well in 6mm Remington. It's the 7x57 Mauser necked down to 257 Roberts necked down to 6mm Remington. Pure perfection in its lineage!
My son has it now after it was my first big game rifle which is a Remington Model 600 with an 18 1/2" barrel. In this rifle we shoot 100 gr. Nosler Partitions using IMR4350. There might be powders that would even give you a bit more velocity in this rifle, but it shoots well and works great on game. I chronographed it at 2800 fps even. That is very interesting. How is velocity in 18-20 inch barrels?
Certainly another to add to my list. Sounds like a nice spot between a 243 and a 6 UM.
