What is the best way to open up the ejection port on this stocky vg? Also need to relieve around the bolt release.

Thinking of using a router or routing bit on a dremel. Obviously with proper PPE and respirator.

Thanks guys. Debating on whether I start modifying this one for final use or send it back due to some general QC issues.

I knew modification would be necessary so not worried about that. But the inletting job sucks. Also some general porosity and overall QC I’m not pleased with for not being marked as a blem.

Dang - it doesn't hurt to ask. Worst they can say is "no". If they aren't willing to fix the stock, then go ahead with the mods.

Yeah I will probably reach out to them and see what they say. I don’t think the tang inletting can be fixed without looking goofy.

It’ll also probably need to be bedded because there’s quite a bit of slack in the inletting. Might be less if I move forward with modifying and make the relief cuts for the trigger hanger.

I just had mine pillared and bedded Friday. I could not keep the stock tight, and there were pretty significant marks in the stock where the action was moving around. It just felt mushy when torquing the screws down. We tinted the acra glass black and it looks pretty good. I’m hoping the aluminum pillars and bed job fix my issues. Carbide burr will chew through it easily.

If that’s not a blem, I’d hate to see one.
I’d send that back.

That stock needs to go back to them for replacement.

If they won't take it back, OP should check his credit card benefits to see if he has return protection with his credit card.

They offered to replace it with a painted stock. They said the blems are normal (I expected blems) but I did not expect the inletting around the tang to turn out the way it did.

I told them I’d rather just send it back and they were good with it. No issues with a full return/refund

For future @Stockys has been super responsive on here. She’ll make sure it all happens as they’ve said if not directly involved now.
