The last ban in 2020 was done with an Order in Council. No vote, no debate, no going through the normal channels to get laws passed. Essentially a dictatorship move. The latest one with handguns is about to do the same.

From the article: "Two years ago, our government banned 1,500 models of assault-style weapons... We also expanded background checks to keep firearms out of the wrong hands," said Trudeau. "... Now, as we see gun violence continue to rise, it is our duty to keep taking action."

So they admit it isn't working but push for more???

Dick Cheney proved that even those aren’t great self defense options.
Lol…I once had a hunting partner/squadron mate shoot me with a 12 ga…fortunately I was wearing eye pro and was far enough away nothing broke skin.

Birdshot doesn’t make good protection ammo

An all out ban is coming for our friends to the north. Give it 5 or so years and a few more incidents.

Distance is your friend… I took part of the pattern of a 3” mag at roughly 15’ to the side of my thigh…I got a cool helicopter ride out of it. I’ll have to post that story someday.

But yes, I’d agree that traditional shot sizes wouldn’t be my choice for home defense.

Trudeau is no more a dictator that Greg Abbott or Ron De Santis. Just because we disagree with policies passed by a democratic legislature that does not transform it into a dictatorship. Words have specific meanings and when those meanings are intentionally muddied to push an agenda, we move closer to an ignorant world that is incapable of informed discussion.

Don't get me wrong, I disagree with what Trudeau is doing. This goes to show that for people who hate guns, the only thing they will consider as "reasonable gun control" is a total ban. "Assault weapons" are already completely banned, so now for handguns.

Don't forget, Canada, like the UK, has a long standing history of requiring compliant victims and criminalizing those who protect themselves by any means. It extends back to when the nobles effectively owned everyone who lived on their lands and is a disgusting hold over from effectively enslaving 99% of the population.
That's why we have unalienable rights. Rights that are so fundamental, even a democratic majority cannot take them away.
Taking those rights by force, puts you into the anti-human rights camp for sure. Dictator.. maybe that's not the right word, but evil certainly fits. Just because 6/10s of people vote to violate a person in any way doesn't make it ok.
This is of course the whole entire purpose of guns. One of many legs in the foundation to prevent such things.

One of the scary parts of this thing (well the whole thing is scary), is that they are now pushing a "5 round capacity magazine". For many years Canada has outlawed magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Apparently that is too much so now 5 round mags are acceptable.....except no one makes 5 round magazines for autoloading pistols......

I always kind of assumed that handguns were already banned in Canada. We could always bring rifles across the border but hand guns were always a no-no to bring in.

The syrup guzzler is outlawing by decree nothing is going through the legislature to be passed. He’s waving his magic wand and making it so. It’s for your own good.
