No. That’s gross. Nets are for fish.
Fair enough, have any other angles? At first glance I would have thought 160 on that guy! I must be over judging him by 1.5" on each tine and 1/4" on each mass measurement. That would put it closer to 159...

That's one thing about judging deer, whereas you can use references all you like but if you misjudge by 1 inch on each tine you can be 10in off your mark in a hurry! Definitely have to use proportionality and wow factor to get that gut feeling for anything 170+ in my opinion, I'm still learning though.

Just in case I shoot a small deer I'm considering taking a pair of these with me also... Can't wait to show everyone my 230" deer!

I figured there was a slight risk I'd get a bunch of internet 200s, but even if a few are off by a bit this thread is still helpful. If I can be within 10" or so I'm not going to worry too much about it as I'm starting with such a low baseline scoring ability.

Ross was the closest, that buck scored 183. I had guessed him at 180 on the hoof. I don’t typically get real technical when sizing up a buck, just assess what I see and try to get ballpark close. Works most the time, other times I’ve been off by a fair bit haha.

If you would have long armed him towards the camera I think I would have been closer on my guess 😂

Awesome buck

He was a cool buck, though we had seen a giant fork that was so much cooler (to me anyways). I wish I’d have gone back looking for that buck just to get some better photos and video. That’s also the earliest I’d ever seen a hard horned buck and he was one of 2, was shot opening day on an early archery hunt August 15.
