Calling bears in Idaho

As my previous post shows, I'm heading to Idaho for a spring black bear hunt. I'm interested in attempting to do a little calling for them and looking for any advice and good fawn in distress calls.

Also, does anyone know when the deer and elk drop their fawns in Idaho? and do the two fawns make different noises?

If I use a fawn in distress call, should I throw some sort of cow call in there and if so, how do you guys recommend I do that?

Thanks for the help

I replied to your other post also but I will give you some info here too. In unit 10 and 12 the wolf season will still be open so pick up one or two tags for wolves especially if you plan to do some calling.

In spring 2003 I called a black bear in using a rabbit in distress call. I was in unit 8 by Dworshak resevior. Although I was hunting coyotes and foxes the bear was a bonus for the trip. That was my only successful bear hunt using calls.

There are plenty of wolves, I don't have anything specific for you about where to go or how to hunt them but whenever you hunt in Idaho you should have a wolf tag in your pocket because you have a good chance of seeing one. Units 10 and 12 are in the Lolo elk zone which has been hit hard by wolves and as a result the elk numbers are dropping rapidly.
