Say what you will about the fit (I love the fit) but I don’t think you can question the quality.
Do yourself a favor and look at the tags on your Kuiu gear and see where it’s made.

China, Vietnam, Philippines…

Can you get decent quality garments out of those countries? Sure.

Is most of Kuiu garments “quality” in my experience. No.

Look at the tags on pretty much anything you wear…. Not much different. I’ve ran a lot of gear. A ton of kuiu. All year long and really hard. In my experience it’s been one of the top when it comes to quality. I don’t care what it says or what color. I just use gear that works. Some of my other favorites is hiking/mountaineering gear. Not a fanboy of any. Just want good fit, longevity, and functionality and for me majority of the kuiu gear has checked those box’s.

I am fully aware that Kuiu isn’t sown in North America. However the fabric is made in the Toray facility in Japan. The clothing is sown overseas using some of the best fabrics available. That doesn’t mean it isn’t high quality because it is.

If they are becoming a KUIU distributor that’s one thing. If they are buying the brand that’s an entirely different story.

My guess is KUIU did a local or traveling speaking engagement at select bass pro shops. Or they did a corporate visit and somebody snapped a photo.

Typically you don't make banners for visitors when your a multi billion dollar company. If you're cabelas/bass pro why would you let a competitors brand do a speaking engagement at your stores? Best case is they stock them, I'm guessing a buyout is more the expectation.

Johnny Morris has plenty of money and has been struggling out west.

My Arcteryx is made in the same countries as is most high end clothing anymore.

Rumor I heard is that Cabela's is going to start carrying KUIU clothing. That's from a pretty low level Cabela's employee so no clue if it's accurate.
The Fort Worth Cabela's had some a few weeks ago.

I saw it taking the senic route looking for 6.5 Creedmoor ammo and was confused.

Kuiu does a nationwide tour every year to promote their products and let people who don't live near Davis, CA try on their clothes and packs and gear. Maybe it's one of the stops on the tour?? But if not, and they are merging or whatever with BPS/Cabela's that's pretty disappointing, especially being their selling point was "no retail markup"

Well I had an acquaintance who hunts with a current owner tell me last week, bass pro made kuiu an offer. I guess he wasn't blowing smoke. I didn't know the guy that well but it makes me think. I agree with most of the guys on here and I even said to this individual when he told me. Bass pro will ruin Kuiu clothing. I have worn their stuff since the beginning. I'm not a 100 percent one brand guy but most of the kuiu stuff of have owned has held up for a good while. I hope kuiu respectfully declined the offer if they made an offer.

I work in the investing/finance world. Kuiu is VC backed. They received the capital infusion back in 2017. With most firms having a five year investment horizon, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re out shopping the deal. I would hate to see them bought out by bass pro. Unfortunately that’s the nature of the beast sometimes…

As a disclaimer, I have no first hand knowledge of the VC firm’s intentions so this is all a guess

A friend of mine who works in private equity in New York shared some numbers with me a few years ago from a presentation when they were looking to raise capital. Assuming they hit their projections, Kuiu is absolutely a company that prints money to the point I don't think they need Bass Pro's money to do anything.

One thing that might make sense would be carrying some inventory and getting product in the stores, but as many have mentioned, they'd have to come up with a new sizing system and make products that are actually tailored to treestand whitetail/turkey hunting. Sure, you can treestand whitetail hunt with Kuiu, but Sitka and even First Lite are much better if that's all you're really into.

While they are right next to Davis, they're actually located in Dixon, CA.
