Bugle report

My wife says there have been some god-aweful bugles coming from my basement. I investigated, but could not verify that claim.

Was out in central New Mexico this weekend and heard bugles all morning. Not going crazy like the middle of the rut but they’re starting to talk for sure.

I was backpacking for 3 days in the wilderness somewhere CO., first night on the ridge above he bugled from 9:30 to first light on and off. Next day higher up several locations bugles from mid day on. Called a cow into me 25 yards at 1:30 afternoon out in the open, she came running in, just one more week! Later found a herd in a drainage around 2:30 feeding, 3 nice bulls. Just cow chat there. Later a spike walked out in front me before he noticed me. Fun weekend.

Hiked into a spot in central Idaho on Saturday to hunt the opener yesterday. No bugles, but 3 spikes were in the drainage I was in. Also a few bucks. 3 other hunters on the opposite ridge walking around pushing stuff everywhere while I sat and glassed the fiasco. Still early

As hard as this is to believe, I was in a bugle fest this past Wednesday. Chased bugles all day long, called in 3 bulls to 50 yards or less, unfortunately no shot. I even had an encounter with a bull that was already with a group of cows. Went back to the same area this Saturday with a partner to call for me, but the elk had totally moved out, we didn't hear, see or bump anything all day.

Situationally dependent. Have friends who were in to bugling elk on the opener, I glassed up quite a few bulls. Handful of half hearted bugles, but nothing serious yet. I've got to work for a few days, so not really feeling like I'm missing much by doing so. It's still early.

My wife and I have camped the last couple of nights (I'm base camping by the truck this opening weekend). We heard a bull bugling and chuckling from a nearby ridge this morning in the dark from around 4 AM to 6 AM. He was probably bugling all night but it didn't wake me. It's possible that it was more than one.

Central MT here. I've been hearing occasional bugles off and on in the early AM for 2 weeks now. They're spikes just wanting to find their voice it seems.

Southern NM they have been waking me up several times a night for almost 2 weeks.

Hunting an OTC unit in CO I watched a bull bugle 2x through my binos this morning. He had 8-10 cows.

My buddy in Colorado had a Bull rip a bugle back at him this morning. They starting to feel it!!

Heard quite a few bugles Monday morning and late Monday night while helping my buddy break down and pack out his bull.

Had some interesting barking/ chuckles last night and this morning. Two different bulls, not alarm barks seemed more social. Cows coming into cow talk as well. Super light all night with the moon and hot. In ID.

Heard a bugle around 1pm while scouting last Sunday. He was with three cows I spooked walking down a creek and made some mews at. Colorado around 10.5k elevation.

Came down yesterday after 6 days,located a couple bulls and was able to get 1 of them fired up after sundown,not much after that,too hot and DRY!!
