Mid 40s guys with constant ringing. Get in here. I have Questions.

What can also be helpful on a more cerebral level is realizing that there isn't any actual ringing - it's just false signals being sent to your brain. This will probably take some time to meditate on, but it works for some people. It's all an illusion, basically.
THERE IS NO SPOON.

Sounds like static from an old vaccuum-tube television for me. Same as others, carrying a convo in bars, concerts, etc is a lost cause. Hearing my wife over the tv, music, or even a sizzling skillet is iffy. Suppressors not legal for hunting where our family hunting camp is, and only legalized at all a couple years ago here, mean I have almost 50 years of loud music, chainsaws, gunfire and shop tools working against me. I know I need to get checked out, just havent made it a priority.

Any of you guys get the on/off tinnitus? I can not have any ringing for a long time and then sitting in my house randomly its like someone hit a tuning fork and the ringing comes back for a bit. Not really bothersome, but is odd when its starts ringing out of nowhere.
Mine will change volume and/or tone (type of sound) at times, but it’s never off. This almost always happens when I’ve got sinus congestion. It will also happen at other times but that doesn’t happen frequently.

The audiologist recommended an app that supposedly can help through sound therapy. The app is named Resound Tinnitus Relief.

Apparently the ringing is a fight or flight response from your brain to the damaged part of your hearing. That's why it gets "louder" when you focus on it or things are quieter. (It's getting louder now as I type this. LOL.)

The therapy temporarily "turns off" the fight or flight response and gives your brain a rest so it can kind of reset. I'm excited to try this. The app is free unless you want to do a scheduled or preplanned routine.

A suppressor. Titanium. Short and light. I no longer shoot any rifle without one. Ever.

Need to figure something out for my turkey gun though. Can't fidget to put protection in but need to be able to hear. I tried the Axil plugs but they totally sucked.
This is why I bought a Phoenix weaponry integrally suppressed shotgun barrel. Just waiting on the transfer now.

I just deal with it but I am in my early 30s.

Duck blinds and small engines for me. I still am pretty bad at wearing ear protection.

Yep. Late 30's for me. Duck blinds and working at dove and duck lodges in Argentina with no hearing protection. I still don't wear ear plugs except every now and then if I have to dial in a rifle.

I can really hear the ringing if I let myself, most of the time I just ignore it and it's background noise.

Thanks for the continued updates and for the app. I may try it out, but please report back.

I bought these - didnt go to an audiologist

How do you like these, are they worth the money?

I'm only 28 but I've had pretty bad tinnitus since I was a kid, only getting worse with unprotected shooting.

I couldn't find much relief with the apps, I wish you better luck.
