Planning an archery elk hunt out west next year and searching for a high quality boot. I have trouble finding size 14 in store, and some companies don’t even make them? Any suggestions for boots in this size? And better yet any places in Michigan that would carry them?

I am a 13 EEE.

Have used asolo, and danner over the years. Fairly sure they all make 14s.

My current Goto is Crispi. They make up to 15 in some boots. Look for them on black ovis.

i have size 14 and i feel your pain. most stores don't carry them so hard to try on. personally i have great luck with kenetreks. i have some hanwags but seem to have a narrow tread which makes side hilling hard. and picked up 2 pairs of crispi's last year on camofire for $100 each. the waterproofing is bomber, but fit is a little iffy, but have not thoroughly broke them in yet. my suggestion is to order online and eat the return shipping on a few boots your try on till you find one you like. blackovis, camofire, and sierra trading post all seem pretty good with returns. also coming from michigan do your best to break boots in before coming out. big difference between boot comfort on relatively flat ground verse steep sidehills

I have some size 13 and 14. In Salomons I have to wear size 14. My Crispi Nevada’s are 13 and fit perfect. If it will be your first hunt out west I would recommend the Elk101 course and use the discount code to buy your boots from the Elk101 store. I talked to them about sizing and they said I could return the boots if I didn’t like the fit. Return shipping is a small price to pay for an important piece of equipment like boots IMHO. Not sure if they make the Nevada’s in 14.

I'm a 14Wide, tried a bunch of brands and ended up with a Keen Targhee 3 wide. Perfect fit. I'll prolly go with them when I get ready for a taller insulated boot.

In Michigan I've seen them at Jay's in Clare,or I'd give O'Conner's shoes in Greenville a call they specialize in boots so they would be able to get you what your looking for if they don't already have it in stock.

Yea I might have to take a ride up to jays.

I was hoping to not have to order online, But I might have to. I know of a place with kennetrek and crispi I’m gonna try them and hope I like one of those options

I'm a 14 also - somewhere between a medium and wide, depending on the boot. I understand the frustration as just about every store stops at 13.

I picked up a pair of used Asolo 520's on FeeBay the other day for $50 and sent them off to be resoled. I should have them this week. They fit really well and with the new soles I expect to get a lot of years out of them.

At work, I'm wearing a new pair of Haix Scouts - a boot I'd never heard of before - and so far I'm pretty impressed with the construction and comfort. Of course time will tell on the durability but they seem well made. Not sure I'd pay $250 for them but I've seen them on sale in some places for $150 or so.

14 also. Feel your pain. I have two pair of Asolo Thyrus. I’ve used one hard for a year and they have held up great. Fit out of the box with almost zero break in due to the soft shell ankle portion.

Salomon 4D GTX in 14 have been excellent for me but they are not waterproof after any amount of use. Schnees Beartooth mid in 14 wide have been good for me so far. In a size 14 chances are you will need to order online to get a good idea of what works and what does not. Start be getting sized by knowledgeable store and try on anything they have. You will start to figure out what shape works and what type of heel will work.

Meindl makes some very nice, comfortable (for me) boots that are available in size 14. Check the Meindlusa website.
They used to partner with Cabelas and made the Perfekt Hunter & Hiker boots.

I talked to my brother who is a size 16 and he has had good luck finding shoes and boots his size at Dunham's sports...in mt.pleasant said used to go to mcsports but they went out of business a few years ago and that just sucks for guys that kinda depended on them for footwear.

It's funny how we all come to the same conclusions here. Being a duckfoot isn't easy, it's downright ridiculous for the modern hunter.
As a 14 EEEE I found the Meindl/cabeas to be a perfect fit. And trust me, I did a lot of the boots above in this thread in my quest...Many painful, blister popping mornings lacing up on the sheep mountain in the early days than I care to remember.

This pair was dirt cheap in the bargain cave, I lucked out.
