i have size 14 and i feel your pain. most stores don't carry them so hard to try on. personally i have great luck with kenetreks. i have some hanwags but seem to have a narrow tread which makes side hilling hard. and picked up 2 pairs of crispi's last year on camofire for $100 each. the waterproofing is bomber, but fit is a little iffy, but have not thoroughly broke them in yet. my suggestion is to order online and eat the return shipping on a few boots your try on till you find one you like. blackovis, camofire, and sierra trading post all seem pretty good with returns. also coming from michigan do your best to break boots in before coming out. big difference between boot comfort on relatively flat ground verse steep sidehills
