Book by Harry B. Combs
Brules: A Novel by Harry B. Combs is a Western epic about a man named Cat Brules, who seeks revenge against the Comanche nation after they murder his loved ones, leading him on a violent journey across the Old West from the 1860s to the early 20th century. The story, framed by an elderly Brules recounting his life to a young man in 1916, details his life as a plainsman, his skills as a tracker and shooter, and his experiences with the changing frontier, including the demise of the buffalo and Native American way of life.
The Haunted Mesa is a favorite of mine. For you Louis Lamour fans, I highly recommend "The Haunted Mesa" and "The Walking Drum." Neither one of those books are what you'd expect from him, but are very entertaining reads.
The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt is the other one. Outstanding trilogy.Blood and Thunder
Empire of the Summer Moon

I mentioned in an earlier post that Last of the Breed by L’Amour is my favorite read of all time. Read it to the daughter a couple years ago.“Sacketts Land”, and “To The Far Blue Mountains” by Louis L’Amour. One book split into 2.

That's a good one for sureEvery Texan that takes his family to the beach in Galveston needs to read Isaac's Storm by Erik Larson
Have several long drives this week.
I downloaded Red Storm Rising by Tom Clancy (I’ve been working through his early books) and Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.
Dude, I really enjoyed the book too. I listened to it with my daughters, and was so surprised how it captured their attention.A couple years ago I listened to the Hail Mary project. Then just watched the movie. With the movie is probably the best book to movies I've ever seen! Nothing was left out or creatively changed.
The book was super descriptive and there was an internal monologues with the main character. So with the movie they were able to cut a lot of that out and explain the story through back flashes and the fact you could see.
Nothing worse than reading/listing to a book and then watch the movie version and it's completely different.
