A couple years ago I listened to the Hail Mary project. Then just watched the movie. With the movie is probably the best book to movies I've ever seen! Nothing was left out or creatively changed.
The book was super descriptive and there was an internal monologues with the main character. So with the movie they were able to cut a lot of that out and explain the story through back flashes and the fact you could see.

Nothing worse than reading/listing to a book and then watch the movie version and it's completely different.

I've kind of enjoyed when I watched movies first then when I read the book and find there is so much more to the story. Inner monologue is a big one. Sometimes the entire story feels different because the books story wouldn't film properly etc... but if I read the book first, I probably never will watch the movie.
