2026 Rokslide World Cup Thread

I can’t stand the flopping and pounding the ground. If the ref calls a foul then just get up, take the free kick and continue play. My family went to a NM United game for my birthday in Albuquerque over the 4th and that was a lot of fun! Almost 15,000 people in attendance for a semipro game. When they got fouled and the ref blew his whistle they just got right up and continued play like they should. That’s how I taught my son and girls to play.

The flopping probably comes from European influence. It’s a way for them to slow the game down and try to get an advantage over the other team. It’s ridiculous the way they act though. If they go down and the ref sees a foul he will call it. Just get up and play.

They have taken measures to minimize flopping in MLS with rules such as the off field treatment rule. Other leagues not so much.

Switzerland was defeated by Argentina in extra time. One of the key moments of the game was when a swiss player received a second yellow card for simulation. I am very pleased that a player was sent off for trying to cheat in a high profile match. I wanted the swiss to win but I am sorry, don't cheat if you want to stay on the field. People are tired of the flopping and cheaters.

I’ve watched several games and the whining and theatrics is just too much for me. About the time I start getting into a game it just takes me out. The fact that it’s not only a part of the game but an actual strategy that can lead to teams getting advantages is a major reason soccer isn’t taken more seriously in the US in my opinion.

Every major sport in the US you are praised for being tough and showing grit. Even if it’s an opposing team or a player you hate, if they show some grit, everyone recognizes and praises it. Grown men rolling on the ground in front of 60,000 people pretend crying, looking around for attention and then jumping up normal when they see it’s not working is wild.

Hard to explain to your young kids as well and not really an example of behavior you want them to emulate…. Although it’s real similar to how my 1 year old acts and even he’s getting old enough to know it’s not acceptable 😂

The behavior reminds me of American football players, like Mahomes, prancing along the sidelines and daring a defender to hit them. If the defender pulls back, he gets more yards. If the defender hits him, he draws a penalty. Once the QB crosses the line of scrimmage, he should be treated like a running back…

That’s frustrating but big difference is he gets lit up he has to have a play called in 40 seconds and could get lit up again.

That disallowed goal for Norway sealed it for me I’m not a soccer fan.

Yeah, the disallowed goal for Norway bothered me too.
