Blaser rifles

Yup!

Blaser R8 Professional Success 30-06 (purchased in Germany)

It has never let me down and shoot sub-1/2MOA with Hornady Precision Hunter 178 ELD-X.

My biggest gun regret is selling my 375H&H Blaser (also bought in Germany).

Great buck!!
I too also purchased both my in Germany!
Can wait to get back over there to hunt again!

I have an R8 Professional with .233, 30-06, and .375h&h barrels. I use it for almost everything I hunt. My only complaint is the weight, and even then it’s very manageable. Plus it gives me an excuse to have a couple of lighter rifles.

Had an early version with 3 barrels.(300 Win Mag,257 Weatherby and 22-250)Light,extremely accurate, switch and shoot, everything needed in one rifle. So of course I finally sold the package at a nice profit.Dumb ass move.Very dumb.

Seeing your gloves made me chuckle; I use the same.;)

Agreed, the weight of the R8 should be reduced... for less than a price tag of $8000+ for their R8 Carbon Success.

Nonetheless, my biggest complaint is not the weight or the cost, but rather the slow twist rates. I can barely stabilize the 175 grain LRX out of my 30R.

I’m thinking about picking up a used .308 R8 for suppressed hunting. I can get the barrel cut to 16” and rethread to5/8x24. With the blaser action this should be one short gun for my 9” sig srd7.62ti suppressor. I really want a thumbhole stock though, but am unwilling to pay the $3700 they want for it new. We will see, I’m also looking at the new S20

Be sure to work with a gunsmith that knows Blasers. The barrels are very hard compared to what gunsmiths usually see. I looked into having mine done and it was cost prohibitive (for me).

Keep in mind that while threading 5/8 on the standard profile barrel is possible, it's not advised. You won't be left with much shoulder for your suppressor. I had to go with 9/16. J Sip & Sons will thread a Blaser, as will Precision Barrel Work.

I do a bit of traveling to hunt and I love my R8s. I have 100% confidence I can take my Blaser completely apart and back together, including the scope and it will shoot exactly where it is supposed to. I am sure of that because I have taken the time a number of times to do just that with every barrel and stock configuration I have...for each shot of a 5 shot group. It is amazing to take the scope off, take the rifle completely apart and put everything back together on every shot and shoot a sub 1” group. I have factory .243, 300 WM, and 375 H&H. I also have a custom 264 Winchester Mag barrel that I use most of the time. I have a wood Jaeger and my workhorse has a custom carbon fiber stock. Next
week I’m planning on picking up the 22 Rimfire barrel.

They are very addicting. I’d like to find an R93 as a project rifle and I’m not quite sure I want to step into the K95 arena!

Great trigger, great accuracy, great handling, and incredible versatility!

I’ve got the heavy Pelican case that comes with most R8s in storage maybe for an Africa trip someday and usually toss everything in this Americase and into my duffle for flights.

Love my Blasers.

Who did your custom barrel?

>>>----JAKE----->

Friend of mine here in Michigan did the stock. He does not sell them anymore. The barrel was made by Elmer Laitala. Elmer has retired but trained and and sold his business to another guy:

All good things must come to an end. I am retiring from the Blaser barrel business in the fall of 2019.
I am turning the business over to Mr. David J. Campbell who owns Palehorse Zero, LLC. Dave is a licensed gunsmith and is being trained in using my process plans, tooling, fixtures and machines. He has been cerakoting my barrels for four years.
I feel confident he will continue to supply the same high-quality aftermarket Blaser barrels into the future.
Dave’s contact information is:
Email: [email protected]
Website: www.palehorsezero.com
All inquires and new orders should be directed to Dave.
Thank you, all my customers who have purchased “Elmer’s barrels” over the years.
Regards,
Elmer
