coming from ID to hunt CA blacktails?? got to say that is a first I have ever heard of, LOL.

Best of luck on your trip.........I am going out for a one day hunt saturday, after that I will be waiting for August to hunt them in a cooler climate.

Yep, you bet I am coming! Need the two blacktails to complete my deer slam with the bow and have hunts planned for each this year. Best of luck on your hunt as well!

Nick's obviously looking for a challenge...everyone knows BTs are tougher than mulies. ;)

Hey Nick, what do you have to do for the deer slam?

Kill all five deer species... Whitetail, Coues, Mulie, C BT, Sitka BT. Just a personal goal that I would like to see through and with any luck this will be the year it happens. If not, try again next year.

That sounds fun and tough to do Nick, I think I will add it to mu list. So you just need the columbian BT to finish it? Did you do it all archery?

I need the Columbian BT and the Sitka BT... Both hunts are this year, one in 16 days and the other in November. All archery, and all DIY except the Coues.

Small twist to my annual solo week long mule deer hunt this year in that the access road is closed due to an ice storm last year. I've got logging buddies that could clear that road in a week with a chainsaw, a pickup and a wench but noooooooo that takes the Feds at least a year to clear.

So now I'm accessing my mule deer area from the west slope Cascades which means I'll be hiking thru about 6 miles of blacktail country until I get to mule deer country. I'm hoping it's a shorter hike then planned
