Best Merino Briefs?

Black ovis merinos have worked well for me but after hearing multiple others here say meriwool is much nicer than the black ovis my next pair will likely be meriwool

Every full merino brief I've ever purchased has fallen apart. The only ones that haven't are KUIU Ultra Merino, which are a blend of 70% merino and 30% polyester. They work like merino but last like synthetic.

I am all in on the Sitka Core Merino 220. I picked up a couple pair for my archery elk hunt in Colorado last year and they’re great. I did notice they are on sale for $36 a pair right now. I normally wear a large but found that the medium were a better fit. 6’2” 210 lbs.

I think most of the high end companies have realized a 70/30 blend or something like that is ideal regarding wool garments. The 100% or 95/5 just fall apart.

Icebreaker makes great ones, have run ultras in them and multi day hunts, still look (and smell) brand new.

I’ve never found a merino that I liked. The Sitka core boxer has been my favorite overtime.

Really want to try the forged boxers by mindful hunter. His latest shipment has been held up at Canadian customs for over a month. At this point, I’m hoping to get them by hunting season.

If not, I’ll pick up another pair or two of the Sitka core synthetics.

Wanted to follow up on this post. I’ve had the forged boxers for about a month now. Taking them on many training hikes and have worn them for everyday stuff. They’re pretty great so far. I like them better than my previous favorite (sitka core synthetics). Interested to see how they perform over time.

Waste of $$$ tried them all.. not durable, waste bands suck, fall apart… get some Exofficio .. last a really long time , fit perfect , dont stench too bad.

I ran the First Lite (3 different lengths), Ministry of Supply, & Woolly this last season and still wear these regularly except the FL longs.
The FLs were all okay, I don't regret spending money on them, but I wouldn't buy them again. The longs probably wore the best, but require cold weather before they're a preferred choice.
MoS are a really comfortable pair, but the waist band is complete junk. It's for that reason, I regret buying them and wouldn't buy them again. That's to bad because they are otherwise a good pair.
The Woollys are still my favorite pair of briefs in my closet. I bought one with a traditional fly and bought one with their horizontal fly, not sure about the change. I'm telling you given the option I will exclusively buy this horizontal fly from here on.

I am also trying two pairs of hanes available at target. One is their xtemp nylon material and the other is the bamboo and so far the bamboo is a real winner for like 5$ a pair

The nylon is great feeling but doesnt dry ss fast as the bamboo. Really similar to duluth armachillos but longer legs so I dont start a fire with my thighs

Ok boys the hanes bamboo ones are super comfy and dry fast....

But I put a hole in one pulling them on. Mighta been a fluke but it makes me think they might not hold up with time

I’ve been using the black ovis ones and have been liking them. Haven’t bunched up in the crotch area because they’re a little longer, dry quick, and have been pretty durable over the last 3 years

After a few seasons with Merino the cost benefit isn't worth it and have gone back to Synthetic. Primarily due to durability. It may be a necessity for those who's asses are a fire hydrant.

FWIW, with 29" quads, KUIU or Superwool > Firstlite.

I have the first lite. I agree with most, they are ok but they do keep the odor away for awhile. I just bought some of the forged in the backcountry. Pretty solid so far, there's a few tweaks that I think that will be made but overall I would buy them again.

was very disappointed in First Lite, CamoFire Core and Ovis merino briefs the past 3 years.
All fell apart, developed holes, waistband problems and didn't last a full season rotating 3 pairs of each.
Always hand washed in cold water, Wool detergent and hang dry.
