Best Merino Briefs?

I've been wearing the Black Ovis bamboo boxers for a couple years now but the elastic has finally started to become weak. Other than that, they have zero holes but if you sweat in them at all, it takes a while to dry. I also wear the sitka merino ones which do fine but my favorite are the SG merino ones but they are expensive. I usually just save them for hunting and not everyday wear. Sadly, I accidently gave away a brand new pair to the Ark second hand store a couple years ago. That was a really frustrating to accept....

Mons Royale hold em. Not cheap, but last longer and more comfortable than any others I've tried.

I used Ice breakers a while back, didn't last long.

Been using Knit lord from Amazon, they are mostly Bamboo but quite comfortable and holding up well.

I've had several pair of the first lite merino briefs. They hold up really well and are really comfortable.

I played baseball for 20+ years and as far as comfort yes synthetic is great because it’s a couple hr event, but in a humid environment or something you might be spending backpacking for 7 days with plenty of sweat and other factors synthetic is not a great option for me being someone who has bigger guards and butt and trunks where rubbing can be a problem

I wear nothing but Icebreaker and have for quite awhile (though their boxer briefs not briefs. I checked their site and while I did order a 3 pack using their birthday coupon in March of 2024 I bought nearly all the ones I have now from Jan 2022-March of 2023. I have bought 18 total pairs and thrown out 4 for rips. They are not cheap but that is pretty decent lifespan for underwear especially considering most of mine show no signs of needing to be tossed out anytime soon.

I've tried some first lites and smart wools. They just don't last. The FL in true FL fashion wore out in a week.

Now I just use 2Undr. They're synthetic but I can easily get a few days out of them before they stink.

I love my meriwool, wouldn't have any other.! last me about a year and a half or 2.
I picked up a pair of these based on this suggestion. Just got them in late last week and wore over the weekend. So far so good. I'd buy more based on initial evaluation. My Black Ovis ones are really shitty (no pun intended).

I've tried several brands. In fact my first wear the black Ovis. I thought they were the greatest thing ever till I got the Merriwool! Now that's all I wear. And I'm not trying to be gross or anything but when I'm elk hunting in the mountains I may go 5 to 7 days without changing them and they don't stink.

Just wear em with the holes they don’t hurt anything. I have a pair of FL ones that are 10 years old now. They have holes they developed on like year two but haven’t gotten any worse after that. Never got a complaint out hunting there were holes in em and i notice no difference in comfort other than merino holds moisture against your skin.

Are the SG Chinook Merino Briefs worth it? There’s a site that has them 20% off. Going on an archery elk hunt in september and a few other backcountry hunts and am interested in them.

I have tried a few different brands. So far I am most happy with Meriwool briefs. The have been durable so far for me. 2 years with frequent wear. all of my briefs are merino wool.

Smartwool for me. Make sure you read the materials though. They have different options. I run the ones with 88% merino. Fantastic brief. Got a pair of icebreaker as well, didn't like the fit.

I’ve never found a merino that I liked. The Sitka core boxer has been my favorite overtime.

Really want to try the forged boxers by mindful hunter. His latest shipment has been held up at Canadian customs for over a month. At this point, I’m hoping to get them by hunting season.

If not, I’ll pick up another pair or two of the Sitka core synthetics.
