Pack - Top three (hard to choose the "best" as they each have their place) would be SG Sky 5100; T3 (sold last fall) and MR Dragonslayer - bomb proof packs.
Tent - BA Fly Creek UL 2 Love that baby, it's protected me in some nasty stuff.
Pad - Retired it a couple years ago, but it was a Therm-a-Rest self inflating pad that had plenty of duct tape to patch it up. Now have a BA.
"Boots" - Been runnin' Salomon trail runners for the past few years as I predominantly bow hunt the early season.
Stove - Used an MSR Whisperlite International for the past 15 years or so. Really liked this stove, but a few issues finally made me "upgrade" to a Snow Peak that is tiny and does a great job.
Knife - Received a Case knife from my dad like 20 years ago when I was still in high school. The thing weighs a ton, but has four different blades that you can switch out. There's some nostalgia with that bad boy, but finally retiring it as I got a new knife for Christmas.

Can't believe I forgot to mention them, but I got into the prevailing format of the thread.

I have to sing the praises of Darn Tough merino socks. They are incredible. I can't believe how much I love these socks, or that they can make me love a pair of socks so much. Get them. Also, First Lite red desert boxers put the merino where it's needed most.

Nope-still love my GB axe and still want to throw whichever sleeping pad I happen to be carrying of a cliff each morning:).

I do enjoy the Nikon ED50 and sprint tripod that I purchased last year but that hasn't supplanted my Steiners binos which I still absolutely love.

I don't know....seems like all my bests have been beaten down
The rubber rands on my Lowas wear out
My Marmot Helium took a burn from the Ti wood stove
My Barneys pack has grommets tearning from the fabric
All my Merino wool boxers have worn out crotches
My head lamp is too heavy and sheds the incorrect light color
My GoLite tepee are starting to feel ready to fail from years of UV damage
My rifle trigger is starting to develop creep
My Jetboil ingniter doesn't work anymore
The drybags have holes

Best of the best for me......Living in Alaska and being able to wear out gear! Here's to another season of trashing nylon, rubber, and leather. I'll be happy to put some dings in the boat and wear out some gears too.

Pack- Seek Outside Fortress 4800 because its really light, highly water resistant, and comfortable.
Shelter- Seek Outside DST tarp. I made a pyramid shelter with it this year during elk archery and it worked great. Really simple with no zippers and lightweight.
Pad- thermarest camper, only ever had this one so can't compare.
Cooking- Kovea spider stove. Keeps pot low so very stable, remote canister so works well in very low temps.
Boots- still trying to find great ones.
Binos- Steiner predator pro 10x42. Great lower cost glass with 25 yr warranty. I looked thru the better glass Swaros, Vortex HD etc and just couldn't justify the price for slightly better.

Interesting old thread. Most of the shit on it has probably made its way through the classifieds. But might as well keep it going.

1. Pack - Outdoorsmans
2. Sleeping Pad - BA Air Core + Z Lite
3. Boots - Meindl Denali
4. Cooking Device - A slew of them, but usually JetBoil
5. Vortex Diamondbacks.

Funny thing is all my crap is old skool by today’s stuff. Wouldn’t call it “best” but it’s all shit I like.

Forgot the tent...Big Agnes Lynx Pass 1.

I'd be curious to see how many people are still using most of the stuff they posted in their original lists.

2.Kifaru Sawtooth and Tigoat vortex titanium stove..the PERFECT set-up!!

3.The original MSR reactor stove..boils water in a minute flat..a little longer in extreme cold!

4.Darn Tough socks..one of the BEST out there!
