Banning Hunting Tech in Idaho

I'll be really bummed out if the trail camera ban goes into effect. It's super fun getting pictures and I'd really enjoy doing it with my kids now that they're getting older. They're not very effective for mule deer but it's sure fun to see what all finds is way down a trail.

That’s the part that is kinda annoying about the whole thing. They lumped it all into one rule change instead of individualy banning the technologies. I think if it doesn’t get passed that they will
Have to go back and split it into different rules

I’ll finish with stats are something we do know and harvest numbers haven’t changed in the last 25yrs even with technology advancements. If the argument is that we get it done faster than in the 80s when it took 2 weeks instead of 4 days then stick to that narrative.
So we keep hearing how there aren't as many game animals because of wolves in ID yet harvest numbers haven't changed. Think that may be due to technology and the long range shooting craze?

Basically in a nutshell, banning something like thermals for big game hunting, which I am all for, will not change the use of thermals at all. The people that are using them to locate game are people that push the limits and have to have everything in their favor. They will not change their ways. Just like all the stupid new gun laws that the anti's keep pushing down our throats, won't change how the criminals operate and those are the people that kill others.

As someone that had a thermal and sold it (to a guy in ID) because they were banning them in UT I disagree.

I will add that your take is not representative of how the majority of people react. Look at the various things that have been banned over time and how they are no longer used. Look at how game limits have changed over the years and how people adapted. The vast majority of people follow the law. A small minority don't.

Agreed. Even cell cams have made it less fun for my kids. They used to rush to meet me at the computer to look at pictures when I’d go swap out SD cards. Now I get all the pics sent to my phone at 8am and by the time I get home from work I’ve forgot to even show them.

Totally agree. Wish they could have judged each component on its own merits. There's some things I like and some things I don't like proposed. Mix it all together and it's a turd sandwich.
