Backcountry rifle weight?

Mid to high 7# strikes a good balance between carry and shootability, and is easily achievable without spending a fortune.

It looks like your scope is too heavy. Did you try to find any alternative? My scope weights much less. I bought it two months ago. Because my old scope was too heavy and had scratches on the lens. To be honest, finding a good scope was a hell of a problem. But with the help of my friends (one of them recommended a review of long range shooting scopes which he found on the internet) I choose a good scope and now I don't have any problems hunting with my rifle. Maybe this is just the thing you need for good hunting?
Who?
What?
Really?

You can order an Element in 300 PRC? Is the barrel length 26” like the PH2 or is it shorter?

My newest backcountry projects: is two part.
Both Seekins Element’s. 1st one is 6.5 PRC,
(just recently received it, ready for load work.)
With 21” bbl., 20 moa integral rail, Seekins low rings, bipod rail, NF 2.5-10x42, 7.33# w/brake.
With Jäger suppressor (at ATF summer camp)
It will weigh in at 7.58# & bbl length at 25.5”

2nd rifle will be a twin big brother 300 PRC.
rifle, scope, & suppressor are all new items yet to come available. That rifle should come in around 8.35# & 8.85# suppressed.

Tikka t3x lite with a vx2. I think it’s ~6.5lbs.
It’s a 7mag though so took a little practice to manage recoil well.
Anything under 8 seems reasonable to me?

The barrel will come standard with 24” & .700 at the muzzle end shoulder behind the threads.
Was told today by e-mail from Seekins that production may start this summer.

Was this a custom ordered barrel length or standard? I had my heart set on a PH2 in 300 PRC but it has a 26” barrel and Seekins said a custom 24” inch barrel would be an additional $600. If the Element has a standard 24” barrel, I’ll order that instead.

A little heavier than I was hoping for but it's a hair under 8lbs and she sure shoots nice. Ruger american predator 6.5cm wearing a leupold 3x9. 20200418_124852.jpg

My Howa Alpine 7mm-08 is 6 lbs. 13 oz. with the metal hinged floorplate, Talley rings and a Weaver 6x38 scope. Balances perfectly. I could shed 6 oz. by going to the plastic DBM setup, but I prefer the hinged floorplate on a hunting rifle. The plastic DBM setups are fine for the range.
