Last time I checked where I’m from you can’t quit your job and get uc benefits. You can receive uc benefits if your fired but you said your friend quit. Outside of uc benefits I’m not entirely sure what welfare program would help your friend.
Good point I assumed they would qualify for unemployment, I've not needed it but know I qualified when I left or quit the marine corps. But since their income is now zero they'll qualify for food stamps et el.
***My hr manager said the recent quits are applying for unemployment insurance, unsure if they'll be granted

I work for big oil in a refinery. They pushed the vax but never mandated it. They mandated masks and even fired a few guys for not wearing them, but, they eventually gave up on the masks..

I am not vaxed.

I felt like poop monday at work and went to medical. They tested me and I was positive. I slept all day monday and tuesday. A little head ache and body aches, and my fever broke this morning and Im starting to feel normal again.

No way in hell Ill ever get that vax. My brother, his wife, and his kids (13 & 9) are vaxed, and boosted. And right after thanksgiving they all got covid and were super sick for a 10 days. He said it was awful.

If the supreme court upholds this osha mandate, I will just test. The vax is a joke, it dosent keep you from getting it, spreading it, or dying from it.

We have the option of Vaxxing or testing weekly (if we come on campus) on our own time and at our own cost. well since I can work remotely looks like Ill be in less frequently and when I go to test Ill just look at some work emails on my phone and probably make a related call driving to and from so ill get paid for it anyways.

We will see what Friday brings but I am not offering any of the vax info until I absolutely need to.

No way in hell I'm getting vaxxed even more so now that the "science" is showing the vaxx does squat...had the vid over Thanksgiving and barely had the sniffles but lost taste and smell...so technically by OSHA's rules I shouldn't have to test for 90 days but since it was "self administered and read" it doesn't count.

I couldn’t tell you, I’m not a lawyer. I said good for them for standing up for their beliefs… regarding the exemption, yes it’s BS to have to fill out a piece of paper explaining why I don’t want to put who knows what type of chemicals in my body. Especially when everyone else is vaccinated and “protected” right?

I'm going to assume every employer has paperwork that employees need to address. How is this any different? Making a wild assed guess, if it had nothing to due with covid the paperwork would have been filed. In the end, if they feel comfortable with their decision that's all that matters. Just seems like the wrong sword to fall on.

Until it was over turned by the 6th.
And this is precisely why the courts have lost credibility and should be ignored.

It's also why SCOTUS jurist johnny made the statement recently that he did...

Work for a company over 100, so we have to follow. Our company was very transparent, if they can't provide proof of vaccination or weekly test results, they would be subject to fines. It's going to suck for HR and everyone else. I'm not sure how people can still support this administration, with a move like this.

"There's no COVID-19 exception to the first amendment, there is no military exclusion from our constitution." - Judge Reed O'Connor in reference to the seals who sued.

This is hard to argue with and will go to the SC. The interesting thing is that "military" can be substituted with any other group, occupation, race....etc and it still holds true.

It's called quitting a job and choosing gov welfare over filing an exemption.

As far as I know, the only exemptions are for religious or medical reasons, which almost nobody will qualify for. So, these people weren't simply quitting a job voluntarily. They were forced to do so since they didn't want to comply with having a substance injected into their body.

Correct- medical or religious
We have folks at work who have exemptions the medical exemption was laughably easy to secure. A five minute video call with your Dr.
The same goes for religious exemptions. Again, no one at my place of work or any of the businesses or agencies has been forced to receive a vaccine. As a matter of fact, I can't find one single example of someone being forced to be vaccinated against their will. Also they can still choose to test, we pay for the test so no out of pocket for the employees.

It doesn't matter for the subject at hand, but what line of work?

At my mom’s work they literally stated they were doing a full blanket rejection of all requests, religious or medical. Until they found out one employee on her team had extreme allergies, then they reconsidered her case and made 1 - count it 1 - exception. Multiple people who were let go have kept a written record of everything and contacted lawyers. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

Good friends of ours were at my sisters house before Christmas, one kid got sick the next day and everyone got covid. One friend vaxed and one boosted. Boosted wasn’t too bad, vaxed still sick, boosted thought she fared better because she was boosted. My sister and her family kicked it within 48 hours, tired, fever, headache main symptoms. No one in my sisters family was vaccinated.

Everyone at party was young and healthy

Crazy part is you think smart people would turn on the vaccine, nope, they get covid and think, thank god the vaccine saved me, problem with that argument is if your young and healthy overwhelming odds are you survive, without a vaccine.

I was always told they could not develop vaccine for colds because they mutate so fast, but heck throw that out the window and I am now an idiot for not getting vaccinated because I figure it will not work when it mutates, and here we have Omicron doing just that. The world is full of idiots.

I work for a decent size company (20k employees) no email from hr about requiring testing or vaccination status currently. Time will tell. The rest of this time they have sent out an email within 7 days saying we will adhere to new cdc guidelines. My take is they send the emails part of CYA. Maybe 20% have vaccine at my office and don’t seem to care who does or doesn’t. The ones who do have it sure got mad when CDC changed course and told them they had to wear mask again which they were only ones wearing them. I know multiple said they got it just to not wear mask when at office.

Update: now they finally sent email asking to note status through our benefit portal. Timetable noted as soon as possible but no deadline. “Futher guidance will be provided in the future as mandate and testing protocols plays out in court. We recognize that receiving the vaccine is a personal decision and you should consult with your physician about it.”

Omicron, from a sheer infection rate standpoint, will re-write the books this month.
I 100% agree on this. My wife and I made it from the start date of covid say Feb 2020 until Monday without getting sick, not wearing masks, or getting the jab. I did get a face full of soybean dust from a combine draper head this fall and got a wicked sinus infection for a couple weeks, I believe that was more miserable than the strain of whatever I just tested positive for. This new variant is spreading like crazy though.
