"But if McConnell refuses to act, Biden will enact legislation to close the so-called “boyfriend loophole” and “stalking loophole” by prohibiting all individuals convicted of assault, battery, or stalking from purchasing or possessing firearms, regardless of their connection to the victim."

This is exactly how it's going to happen. They will try to price people out of owning guns first. Think of all the money they will make and get some guns out of circulation. Will gun laws really do anything about gun violence, no, but that's not the point. They just need to look like they are doing something, and if they get a few guns, but a lot of money....all the better.

^^^THIS!!!! --- This is what it's all about.

The core problem, as I see it, is that "politician" was NEVER intended to be a "career".
It was a duty/service that colonials volunteered to, and got voted into, taking on the responsibility of in addition to their daily grind. Because they wanted to better their community in which they lived. Create order, and conditions in which all thrive.

The moment this..."service" becomes your career.... you've taken away the proper motivation that should be the driving force behind decisions being made... namely.. logic and reason!!

But since the only way these a-holes can continue to earn their livelihood and send their kids to college and get these crazy pensions (and earn kickback money) is if they remain politically relevant and continue to be elected. As such they all shy away from making the hard, but necessary decisions which would be needed to solve all our various problems in short order. And they don't do this for fear of pissing off the larger number of uneducated masses who DON'T make decisions using logic and reason... hence the reason we're stuck in this never-ending loop of stupidity.

I really shouldn't bite....but lol.

If it ever got to the point where they wanted to come to your house and take them (it won't) and they had personnel willing to do it (probably also wouldn't happen) then the act of getting you in cuffs would happen before the bright of the flash bang left your eyes. Speed, surprise and violence of action.

Edit to add: if it gets to the point that someone is actively going to houses and taking weapons, then you can be assured that all was lost years before. If we are headed down that path, then we better all get active politically. But I don't believe there is enough taste for it even amongst our career criminals, I mean politicians.

I didn’t think confiscation was possible a few years ago.

I also didn’t think it would be possible for the government to tell hundreds of businesses they can’t open.

Or telling an entire population they have to wear a face diaper and that people would actually do it.

Come to think of it, I’ve been wrong about a lot of things

You not alone! I wrongly predicted how weak we really are as a whole.

What is this "AR" of which you speak?
Well I have switched my “want “ to an even more expensive ak type firearm. I am considering a Fostech origin. As it sounds as though they are going to make “ assault” ammunition hard to impossible to buy. And I can ready buy, and reload 12 ga. ( as of now). That said, I talked to them at Fostech and they suggest not buying any type of” assault” weapon, if you can’t afford to have it taken away. As no one knows what will happen in the near future. He says his lawyers are working on things, what ever that means.

I think there will be some "low hanging fruit" types of things done so that they can appear to have "done something" but I highly doubt sweeping reform. Obama was a much, MUCH stronger force than Biden and he didn't take away the guns...

Politicians say a bunch of crap to get elected, I expect that this is much of the same.

After all, we still have Obamacare and we don't have a wall (that Mexico didn't pay for)...

No sane police officer will follow an unconstitutional mass confiscation order. However many already do follow red flag laws, and confiscate firearms in violation of half the constitution.

Simply put, its not a good idea to threaten the most heavily armed population in the world. Im very pro-law and support law enforcement within the boundaries set by the constitution. Outside of there, any criminal attempting illegal confiscation will be dealt with accordingly. For example...

How many guns do I have? I own one gun according to the government. They want to confiscate it cause they convinced people it looks scary, and send in 20 criminals “just following orders” with 2 guns each (ironic). In the end I (and friends) own 50 guns. 1 the government knew about, 9 they didnt, and 40 from criminals trying to rob me. Without due process, you have to call it what it is, and yes I live behind enemy lines in commiefornia.

The gov would have the man power to do a handful of mass confiscations before they ran out of willing participants. LEO’s are very pro gun and are generally on the side of the people, not their employers, even in CA. The vast majority signed on to protect the innocent, not hurt them. Confiscation to me is a mute point. Death (Gun control) by a thousand cuts is their only plan that has had barely any effect.

@Jake686 Understand your points completely and they are valid. The biggest take away between my opinion that red flags laws are bad and yours that they are good, is that we live in different states and those laws are written differently. In CA if someone doesnt like you and yells WITCH!! - you’re f’d with our red flag laws, with zero due process. My friend has never been charged with a crime, and yet all his guns were confiscated, his right to buy any is gone. Hes on the list, all due to a psycho ex gf.

Id wager to say we both agree that a national constitutional carry law should supersede all state carry laws, and good training should be a part of it. Also fair costs that dont price out everyday regular Americans.

Wow! I knew California sucked but that super sucks. I guess I have hope for Virginia (for now). Bloomberg can’t keep his nose out of our affairs and is pouring money into stricter gun laws cause all of New York comes here to buy guns (a guess not saying I’m right).

I wish we had federal level rules that were reasonable based on both sides compromising on extreme ideas, but then again it’s nice when the states can do there own thing so you can seek sanctuary elsewhere.

The perfect summary of Kalifornia. Nobody wants what we have so stay vigilant, keep in touch with your local gov't/politicians, keep an eye on pending legislation.

Oh yeah, I know how predators operate! I have a very good idea of the order of events which would occur prior. That's how you read between the lines and notice when the sh*ts about to go down ahead of time and bounce. Buncha little subtle things would start happening as a pre-cursor to it. If you know what to look for.

They better be taking all of their rights away if that's the case. They can't pick and choose which rights they allow citizens to have and which rights they can take away........rights are a package deal, and the Constitution prohibits government just arbitrarily taking away citizen's rights. If the criminals have served their time and paid the penalties for their actions, then all rights should be restored to them. If they can't be trusted out in society with those rights (all of them) then they shouldn't be released from prison to start with.

If you recall, when Bath house Barry Day & Big Mike were in office they had agencies like the USPS, etc. order millions of rounds of ammo essentially making it impossible for ordinary citizens to find any to buy.

As citizens, we, along with the NRA and other pro gun groups should pressure the ammo manufacturers to commit to not doing this in the near future. They should commit to selling only to private consumers.
It's not like there isn't demand.
