A coupme other guys said Falken Wildpeak AT3s. Thats what Ive been running lately and I love them. Ive had probably 15 different sets of mud terrains and all terrains and I think these are my favorite. I got them on sale considerably cheaper than the MTRs I was running. They wear very well and have the deepest tread of any all terrain I believe.
just switched to these too. very happy so far and pretty good deals on amazon for them. beefy sidewall saved my butt a couple weeks ago. not very loud either

I looked at the same size in those I run in my Cooper ST Maxx and the Falken. Cooper is 18.5/32, Falken is 18/32. 265/75 16. As long as Cooper keeps making the ST Maxx I have zero reason to switch. Never been a fan of BFGs. I got about 70k on my last set of Maxx on my Tacoma.

I had a set of BFGs on an f250 and they did not last long at all. Cant remember mileage now but it was low enough that I wont ever run them again.

Stay away from the Falken AT3's. Had a set on my Wrangler and hated them. Switched to Nitto Ridge Grapplers and like those much better. Lower road noise, tougher tire, and made in America. I have seen and heard good things about the Cooper AT3 XLTs. That's going to be my next tire to try.

I've been way happier with the Wrangler duratrac's on my Landcruiser than the bfg ko's I used to run. Much better in snow, air down much better as well.

I e run so many at tires over the years. Most are pretty darn good for all around use. Here in west Michigan with lake effect snow and temperature swings, my highest priority is snow and ice grip.

The coppers were good, until about 8/32 tread and the siping was not cut deep and they were dangerous. 3 sets including buddy and brother all same thing. Maybe a bad run of tires cause some have had good siping down to 4/32.

Currently running durstracs and short if true snow tires I’ve run these have been the best at tire in snow and ice. However, there’re still new and I try not to judge a tire until it’s well worn.

I run nokian rativva on wife’s forerunner and that is a very well balanced performing tire in all conditions. Especially snow and ice. Off road is capable too, except deep mud they well clog up.

Around here, the dynapro is popular with hobby snow plow guys. Pretty good siping.

The Cooper ST Maxx were great on my Jeep. More aggressive than the BFG. However, they aren't dramatically cheaper. My truck will be getting Cooper AT3s as soon as I can afford it. Had good luck with the Discount Tire Cooper ATP as well.

If looking for the most practical miles per $ go dedicated summer tires and dedicated non summer tires. I ran duratracs in the snow and Cooper ht in the summer on my duramax. My powerstroke ran pro comp ats.....which were a great mileage warranty, but they were all out of round. Thankfully discount credited me into a set of Cooper at3's and they're pretty decent. I have a 12v cummins that chews rubber up so it gets cheap mud tires. Rbp 35x18's @ 120 each is a no brainer. The last rig in my fleet is an 80 series cruiser and it rides on bfg at's. The weight and power of the cruiser won't chew up the bfg like my hot diesels. I try to match the use, power and load needs to the tire choice. I'm not one to run a tire in the winter with less than about 10/32 tread depth.

One of the best handling tires I ever ran was a bridgestone revo, but my cummins chewed them off in a hurry.

If you want a tire that will wear like iron and resist flats like a boss....look at the m55. It's not the greatest ride quality, but it's about as tough a tire as has ever been made.

Just did a similar thread because my KO2 tires seem to be wearing way too fast.

It seemed that most were happy with their tires no matter the brand. Coopers seemed to get the most nods in the SST series including the different variations. The one downside some mentioned was the weight.

I do think they might be the next tire I try on the truck as I am not thrilled with the KO2 tires anymore. Too expensive to be done in 20000 miles.

Not to derail the thread, but how do you like those ridge grapplers in the winter? I'm debating between the ridge grapplers and the exo grapplers for my excursion in a 35inch tire.

So far I love them. Haven't gotten stuck yet, and comparing them to my Falken AT3W's which had the snowflake rating (the Nittos don't) I think they're just as good or better.

Have had Cooper AT3 on several Toyota and they have been excellent.
Good ride and decent off road performance.
Always get over 50,000 miles per set and could get more.

I have the Falken At3 on for 2 years now. They are wearing well. I will buy them again. I had Ko2’s on before the falken’s, I liked everything but the price. The At3’s seem to be wearing better.

Our Tahoes and Suburbans ate through the Cooper AT's. Im talking 20k miles and they were toast. Road terrible too. We've had much better wear and ride with the Michelins and Hankooks.

They are the longest lasting AT tire I've every used. Had them in 315/75/R15 and now in 285.
Low road noise. Not no road noise, but low.
Also, Load Range E, which is rare for this type and price of tire.

On my 2500 Silverado I put on Hankook ATMs and am very pleased with them in ride and noise. Traction wise has been very good this winter. The shop owner has the same truck as me and he put 70k on his personal set.

On my 2500 Yukon I have Nitto Duragrapplers and have been impressed with the traction this winter as it’s RWD and I haven’t had a problem getting around at all. It’s a hwy tread with a ton of siping in it. Mileage wise they are supposed to be excellent.

My favorite tire I’ve had over the years for an AT has been Firestone Destination AT. Quiet, excellent ride, and excellent traction off road and in snow/ice.

Tires are like guns. I find something that works and I like but there just might be another that’s a hair better so I better try them just to make sure.
