Hope you found that issue while you were on the ground!
Would love to know more about your plane; they are always a highlight of most of my Alaska hunts. Always wanted to be a pilot…
It’s a 1952 piper pa-18. Aka super cub
Mine is modified in a few ways.
I have bigger wings, longer and wider.
Also have extended tail feathers, so they are four inches bigger.
My landing gear is 6” longer than stock which gives me a much wider stance and ground clearance.
My prop is an adjustable carbon, over the metal prop it is 17lbs lighter and gives me about 10mph more speed and much quicker throttle response.
I have 31” tall Alaska bushwheels and they run at 7lbs of air in each tire.
I had a 160 horse lycoming engine that was port and polished, dyno was right about 187hp. With these cylinders now it’s a straight 160hp. Jake is sad.
I cruise about 90-92mph. Touch down about 39-42mph depending on my approach and wind

.
It weights 1250lbs dry weight and can legally have a gross weight of 1750.
