I’m in product management for a medium sized tech company. In order to maintain profit margins we take our landed cost of goods and set the list price at 3 times our landed cost. We sell to a dealer network at discount and they sell to consumer at our MSRP.

So they are probably somewhere in that 3 times the cost neighborhood.

So you’re telling me that AKEK designed this product in the US, shipped production over seas, to resell the product to themselves for 3 times the price of what this distribution company is charging on Alibaba? To then sell the 115 dollar pack for 575 in the us?

Or they just bought some cheap Chinese made frame and bag they didn’t design and are pawning it off as “arguably the best new pack around.”

Either way, there’s a whole lot of pissing down backs and calling it rain going on around here.

Before I light my torch and pull the pitch fork out of the shed are we upset because the pack is made in China or are we upset that it is a pack made in China and laying claim to be the best new pack? In all seriousness is it possible that Akek designed the pack and frame as they claim and the factory that is manufacturing them to their specifications is making extras that Akek didn't purchase and selling them on their own. One last thing, do 4 other dudes want to buy one and we can split shipping. Shipping is 65 bucks for 5 units so for about 100 bucks a guy might have a hell of a pack.

For sure. Hopefully they get back on here with a response. They wouldn't be the first company to get called out on rokslide. It has happened to a few others and they were willing to come on and respond. That's what is nice about rokslide. Usually guys get in here and defend their products.
