Add a OBD2 scanner as critical equipment for Diesels

Shops aren't a problem, dealerships are. I avoid dealers for a lot of reasons anyway.
Not true in my experience, the EPA began a serious crackdown a couple years ago and started fining even little mom and pops shops hundreds of thousands of dollars. Many places near me won’t touch them for fear of that. Even though I live in a state with no emissions testing (Florida).

Most if not all shops around here won't do a delete, they still do repairs on deleted though. All I know was when I bullet proofed my 06 , I nothing but problems after. Check engine lights ,turbo ,etc. Seemed like everytime the computer did it's thing it would throw a code especially under a load towing. Bought a 18 Cimmins and have not had any issues, but I sure would like to delete it though. Still under warranty so it's a no go.

Another issue is that if you try to trade a deleted truck the dealerships don’t/wont take them.
Didn't Trump sign an executive order than ended the requirement for this nonsense.

If anyone's interested I have a like new EZYLINK V2 for sale. I had only listed it locally on fbook marketplace, but I'll get it listed here shortly.

That's for the deletes from what I understand, which has lately not been an issue with new administration. But let's be real nobody ever got fined for replacing a starter or radiator on a deleted truck.

Anecdotal, but on 2 different trucks of friends and family they’ve had what looked like def issues and on the duramax, a fresh air filter fixed the issue (even though the filter was fairly new). The other was a Cummins and again a fresh air filter fixed the issue. In addition to the obdii reader I’d be carrying a spare air filter.

The way I understand it; Trump stopped the further increasing of emissions which according to Cummins would have added $20,000 to each vehicle in the future.

Currently according to the Trucking council, current diesel motors filters and with DEF going across a catalyst eliminates 99% of particulate and noxious gasses from diesels of the 1970's...but the Biden admin wanted to restrict that further at a ridiculous cost to consumers. The current admin said enough is enough and things will stay as they are....nothing about eliminating existing systems.

Emission systems are always going to be the achilles heel of these diesel trucks going forward. It's worth learning the little tricks to maintaining them.
