A robust 12X with parallax adjust and turrets?

Finally found "Happy" with a rifle that was giving me some issues. I had a Bushnell LRTSi 3-12 I mounted on a box stock Tikka 22-250 and finally found a load to spin an 88 ELD-M.

Had a literal blast banging steel out to 800+.

I have LONG been in the camp of lots of Xs. I like them. I don't live on podcasts, but recall hearing Avery say "If you can quarter the animal, you have enough Xs and can make the shot".

I had a nice WT buck years ago in a timber cut at 1st light. Rainy grey shitty day. Built a position and was a touch rushed as he was heading to the timber. 500+. Rifle could do it. But I recall feeling "damn....he's small in the scope...I don't know".

I set up a tarp and froze my ass off for 8 hours waiting on him until dark again. Never showed.

Having lived through a pile of scopes that don't track and don't remain zero'd.....I think I have 3 of those Bushnell Elites. A 3-12, a 4-18 and a 3-21. All of them track a dial like a Champ.

I'd like another 10-12X optic to mount on a potential retirement Africa plains game trip. I would guess a rifle is treated more reasonably on a hunt like this than how I roll throughout a season. But the thought of being so far from a spare rifle/scope combo is unsettling.

A Grail scope in this range is generally a NF 2-10. But GD...they are not getting any cheaper.

I own a Maven RS 1.2. 3-15. It simply doesn't do much for me. It's on a heavy recoiling flyweight 300WSM that is ZERO fun to shoot.

Am I missing any robust options WITH PARALLAX in the 10/12X top end range with an exposed locking turret? I don't follow Swaro, Leica, etc. Zeiss looks nice, but no parallax and they may not hold up too well.

You’re going all the way to Africa for a once in a lifetime hunt and you have a heavy recoiling rifle? Why wouldn’t you spend the money for the one scope that, if you miss, you can beat the animal to death with and it still won’t lose zero?

Buy the Nightforce.

Does SFP / FFP and MIL / MOA matter to you also? Or just 10/12x top end robust dialer?

The trijicon credo 2-10x36 is an option that falls in that top end. Zero stop (not locking I believe) elevation and capped windage with parallax. But a tree reticle unfortunately.

Just wanted to see if I was missing any other options. Took me 50 years to get my 1st NF. I have 3 now. Love them.

But fug....they are still climbing in price non stop

I don’t want to derail your thread but why is parallax adjustment a defining criteria?

Parralax error is remarkably small and while it may win you a 1000 yard br contest it’s likely immaterial for a hunting scope

On a 3-12x42 MAXIMUM ERROR would be roughly .2 mils or .7moa at 1000 yards, I all capped maximum because you would need to be so jacked up on your cheek weld it would be tough to shoot.
At 200-600 yards in field conditions most people can’t shoot the difference

I am aware of some of the drop test results. And SWFA, the new Maven and NF generally pass. Beyond that No. I will look.

Why PA....simply due to 90% of the optics' life will be practice. But I have honestly NOT know how to do the "math" in distances beyond a standard 150 pre set.

I DO see quite a bit of difference in my PA optics when shooting beyond 300 yards. The difference OPTICALLY, not mathematically or statistically.

Cross hairs and targets generally crisp right up and focus on the same plain ish.
