I went with a 20” Bartlein #13 in 7 PRC. $800 for the barrel and $310 for install/chamber.
That's why I went with a 600 dollar savage figured if I didn't like it with a short barrel wouldn't be out of near as much. 200 to cut down an thread indexed my suppressor adapter off muzzle an recrowned it. Figured I wash pushing limits of what this suppressor was rated for. Browning I believe makes one in a 20 inch speed. I'm a lefty so little or no options

What suppressor are you using? I haven’t looked into many factory offerings although I know there are more and more factory options as time goes on.

YHM Resonator R2. Rated for 20 inch 300 win mag or rum. I just got an Otter Creel Labs Polonium 30 to be safe it's not quite as quiet so I'm running the YHM our gun range is in a hollow under pavilion so need all I can get lol

Polonium-30 is a great choice. I would also take a look at the Diligent Defense Enticer series.

Also, if you're not familiar, check out Pew Science for suppressor data before you buy your next.

Yeah I'm not unhappy with it. It was shorter so didn't expect quieter. I read his review an listened to his YouTube video after ordering it. I wanted it more for its ruggedness. I put videos up of it compared to the R2 for a short barreled magnum still does very good job. I think the R2 is under rated for the money an I can throw it on more gun quicker if I want. Attachment option is a lot better on the wallet. I'm going to go out in a field one day with both an compare I'd love to get a decibel meter that goes over 130 to actually measure with. That polonium is rated for a 16 inch win mag so I knew it would be a badass can.

I’m still waiting on my scythe for this build but I have been running the dead air nomad LT in the mean time and it does very well.

The Polonium was my 3rd for length an rating for a short rifle build. I got a 16.5 inch 7mm-08 it may stay on that thing is hand. I've shot the r2 off my 300 prc an sounded like a 22 mag in the field I laugh after the deer dropped. I will do a lot of research on next can for quietest possible. Would ya believe I got my Polonium approved in 3 days?

Figured I’d add some info now that I’ve started some load development. Gun is built by arrowhead rifles. Defiance Anti-X action, 20” brux barrel carbon wrapped by preffered 1/8 twist, triggertech diamond trigger, dropped in an XLR Element 4.0 magnesium chassis and topped with a Kahles K328i.

For starters this gun shoots the hornady factory as such:
175 ELD-X: 2730 fps and about 1 moa
180 ELD-M: 2765 fps and .6 moa

Decided with the short barrel and wanting to maintain a speed around 2850-2950 and realistically 90% of my shots are 600 yards and in I’d start with the 162gr eldm.

Decided to play with reloader 26 first as we have plenty of it in the shop and it seems to be magic in a lot of other guys 7 PRCs.

I loaded up 2 rounds each at 65.8, 66.2, 66.6, 67, 67.4, 67.8 and 68.2. Started 20 thou off which came out to 2.619 BTO.

Conducted a ladder test at 450 yards as that is what I had available for distance and will attach a picture of the target below. For reference the height span from the top 67gr shot to the bottom 67.8gr shot is about 2.5”.

IMG_0769.jpeg

Temperature was 75 degrees and velocities are as follows via a garmin Xero C1 chrono.

65.8: 2817.4, 2806.8
66.2: 2838.7, 2828.5
66.6: 2857.1, 2867.5
67: 2897.6, 2890.7
67.4: 2906.5, 2916.7
67.8: 2956.7, 2929.3
68.2: 2966.5, 2963.7

I never found pressure even at the 68.2 load.

Going to explore that 66.6-67.8 some more to finalize things but looks like it is going to shoot!

The Federal ELDX loads average 2854 from my 18 inch barrel so you'd be good with those in a 20. I had same thought at you though with the 162s I only have 2lbs of RL26 currently N560 is my go to. It gets 2900 easy

I can't wait to get my hands on my 18in barrelled gunwerks 7mmPRC and I have N560 on hand itching to burn up. I like TSX bullets though so gonna see how they shoot first I think.

I just got a cheap savage apex an cut down figured if I didn't like it I'd atleast have a decent action. I may try the Ramshot Grand I think everyone is snagging up the Vihtavuori now that Alliant is so scarce. TSX would be good the ELDM an Xs were just what were local

Unknown munitions is currently cutting my barrel down to 18 inches and sending me home with a load development pack. Very excited to get it dialed in!

I'm going to be the outlier and load 145LRX in my 20" 7mm PRC when it gets put together. Should get close to 3000fps if not a bit faster.
Use the 139s, always seem to shoot better and can push them faster. The speed more than makes up for the minimal BC compared to the 145s. Just seems like the 139s are always hammers

Bumping this thread. Trying to decide between an 18" and a 20" barrel for a 7prc Tikka. I'll be running an Ultra 7 Gen 2 can on it. Anybody have velocity data for factory Hornady Precision Hunter or hand-loaded Barnes LRX loads?
I just received my Gunwerks 18 inch barrel 7 PRC Sat and shot a box of Factory 175 Hornady Precision Hunters Velocity was ranging from 2600 to 2650 with my Garmin. I didn't put a suppressor on just used the muzzle brake for today.

Love following this thread. I battled building a 7prc when I already have a 22" 280ai. I'm getting very similar and in some cases more velocity with that rifle and 59gr of 4831sc. Throwing that out there for anyone on the fence about a short barreled 7PRC.

I still love the 7PRC cartridge but I decided that 22" was still too long for some of the tighter spots i deer hunt so I went shorter and smaller to an 18" 6 Creed.

Love seeing all the load dev info and everyone's setup. Keep it up guys.

Thanks. I ended up with an 18" barrel. Initial shots with Hornady precision hunter averaged 2700 fps with an ultra 9 can. Pretty awesome, especially considering the velocity issues that Hornady ammo has been having.

I'm waiting for some Unknown Munitions ammo to come in soon and I'll repost here.

Is Unknown planning on loading for the 7PRC? I have them building me a 20 inch 7PRC in a Rokstok. Just waiting on the stock at this point. I was planning to do my own loading, but haven’t totally decided yet.
