I have a new barrel that is either going on my T3X 270 or 6.5 PRC.

Neither one is a primary hunting gun for me on a regular basis. My regular line up includes.

223 - trainer and some hunting
6 creed - Main hunting gun
6.5 creed, more just general shooting, it shoots well and I have a pile of ammo, it will become a 22 creed once its shot out

Anyway my current 223 is set up in a regular rokstock with a longer barrel and heavy scope, have a 16 inch barrel and rokstok lite and light weight scope all set to go on either the 270 or the 6.5 prc and have an extra 223 bolt handy so either one will work fine. The prc is blued and 24 inch and the 270 is stainless superlight 22 inch if that matters.

At first the obvious choice to keep was the 6.5 prc as it adds some meaningful range on top of the 6 creed, but its also range I cant realistically shoot right now. I am starting to lean toward keeping the 270 to have 1 classic caliber rifle in the stable still. I do have a m70 270 but its not a shooter anyway. I have similar ammo supply for both so thats not really a consideration.

Anyway what are thoughts on which one to keep and which to swap out.

I currently have a .270 and 7 PRC. I'm looking to swap the .270 barrel down to something like 6 creed so it's a little easier on the kiddo as he begins hunting. It will have a suppressor on it either way but my current .270 is not threaded which is part of the reason I'm swapping barrels. I also figure a 6 creed or .243 gives a significant difference in capabilities from the 7 PRC and I can go lighter/more compact.

If you swap barrels on the 6.5 PRC and keep the others it seems like there will be so many similarities which for me would make it harder to decide which one to use or modify in the future. My thought would be to keep 6.5 PRC and swap .270. Then if you find a need for a magnum action in the future you can change it to something else in that family.

Long action standard bolt face narrows down the list in my opinion...284 based case, 280ai based case, 270 or 30-06.

Short action magnum bolt face narrows down the list too...saum, wsm or short prc.

You're somewhat handcuffed in what you have and what you're wanting to do. If you subscribe to the everyone needs a small, medium and large cartridge...you sort have have that covered considering the 270 and 6.5prc as your larges. If you wanted to go bigger, I'd think 280ai or 300wsm.

Saying all of that...you didn't really say what you were attempting to accomplish, it's like you have a new rifle itch but not certain what you want. Like you just wanna rebarel something without trying to accomplish much of anything. I been there, I get that, but it makes it harder for us to help :)

Sorry if I was unclear. I am turning one of these two into a shorty 223. Just cant decide which to keep of the 270 or the 6.5 prc.

I have the barrel and the bolt, just need to decide which one of these actions to put it on.

The 270 is a stainless 22 inch superlite which I generally perfer for my larger hunting rifle

The 6.5 prc is blued 24 inch (blued is fine for the 223) but has some slight advantage in performance at a cost of more expensive ammo etc and its performance that I likely cant shoot far enough to take advantage of.

Boy, I miss read all of that. I gotcha now. HAHAHA, sorry about that.

In that case (still cracking up how bad I miss read your post)...I'd do the 270, only because it's stainless. Then I would just screw the barrel on and keep it all stainless. If you do the prc, then I'd want to cerakote it all.
