I am looking to get a backcountry rifle. I’ve narrowed my calibers down to 2. I understand there are more but these are the 2 I have decided on. My question is which one do y’all recommend? I know the 7 prc is more popular, but back during the ammo shortage I purchased 3 boxes of 28 nos. I hate to not use them but I also know selections for 28 nos rifles are slim. What’s y’all’s opinions?

If shooting factory ammo I'd absolutely go 7 PRC. It has good ammo options, and will continue to get even more, possibly better options. Don't spend $2-3k on a gun and base the purchase off 3 boxes of factory ammo you have laying around IMO

How far are you shooting?

My decision would be 100% based on ammo availability. And if you reload, access to brass and the one that had the most load data.

I chose the 7PRC a couple years ago. Part of that was limitations of the tikka action, but other things to consider are components and barre life.
