I have (2) 25-260 creeds , 25 sherman and a 25 saum. 133, and 134's 3080-3300fps rifles are 8, 8.5 and 10lbs. Two share a suppressor and or a Salmon river 4 port self timer the other in a chassis has a poopy 2 port so it hops left when fired. None of them are bad as far as recoil goes the suppressed and 4 port rifles you can spot yourself. Rifles and 1000yd groups. No 25 saum in these pictures.
Looks like they shoot! Good info on spotting your own shots suppressed.

A 6mm cm will push a 109 eldm, 108 elite hunter or any high bc 6mm bullet at the same speeds as a short magnum will push the high bc 25 cal bullets. Drops will be similar, and a slight wind advantage to the 25, but a large increase in recoil and far less barrel life. I'll take the 6mm. A 25cm or 25saw would be my choice over the 25 Saum or prc. If a standard 473 diameter case can still achieve 2900+ fps with the heaviest high bc bullets, take it and run. Only step up to the magnums if you need the velocity in short barrels or you're running 140+ gr bullets. There is the argument of RL26 makes this case do that, but until it's on the shelf in stores, it's not valid.

The two in the picture are built off a 260 case 50gr or less powder (imr4831 and 560). One is 3080 fps and the other is 3110 fps non magnum, truly fit in a plastic .308 magazine, both 22" Put the 134 in a solver at 3080........its 1821fps and essentially 1000lbs at 1000yds. Plenty fast enough for the bullet to open and function. Hard to beat out of that size package.

Agreed. More efficient too.

I’d like to utilize the magnum bolt face I already have and I think it will help with the short barrel. I’m not concerned with barrel life as the majority of my shooting and hunting especially inside 450yds is with the .223 Rokslide special.

Are the 260 cases aggressively improved? Because 3080 with a 130 grain in a 260 would be really hot. With a smaller bore and a heavier bullet obviously it's more so.

Its creedmoor Improved .....Didnt have to have a reamer made to do it so we did it.....Imagine a 25 creed but 260 length and there ya go. I chose the creed taper and shoulder cause its proven to feed on a gas platform vs ackley if I ever wanted to put one together. Was a hair brain idea I had and it just happened to work...... twice at least. Call it the 1/4 pounder.

ps edit. They are both +P one is the defensive edge style and the other is a cone style.

Built a 25 PRC this summer and pushing the 133 Berger at 3170 fps, 2” groups at 600 yards. Can’t wait to do some field testing with this bullet. The ballistics are impressive and recoil is minimal. I think it’s a great choice with brass availability and no special dies. Running 6.5 PRC dies with a smaller neck bushing.

How long is the barrel on that out of curiosity?

Was that a pretty hot load in your rifle? Impressive speed out of 23” barrel

23” progressive twist 2B Bartlein
Curious what powder/brass combo you're using? I have a 25prc that I'll be picking up in 2 weeks from my smith. 23" 7.5tw brux #5, bat bumblebee, have lapua and adg brass. All I'm really looking for is 3100fps.

Man, I have the worst timing. I built a fast twist 1:8 25-06 about 6 years ago. Just before the faster and flatter 6.5 calibers came out. Back then there was almost nothing for high bc 25 cal bullets. I did it to shoot the 121 hammers but holy shit is the bc terrible on the 121 .257 hammers. Now there are all these interesting modern quarterbores that are a helluva lot more efficient. I need a 1:7 twist if I want to shoot the badlands 110 in the .257. So imma bit stuck unless I go back to lead.

After my experience I think I’d go 6mm. Tons of bullets to choose from and a collection of ammunition aimed for the more modern rifle usage.

It’s worth considering if you have a 6.5 already. .264-.257=.007. There just is not enough difference between the two to make it worth the extra effort of a quarter bore. With a 6mm you’re covering a wider range if you have a 6.5,7, or 30 cal. This is coming from someone whose spent a lot of time money and effort on a fast twist 25-06.

With an 8 twist you can shoot all the Berger 133/135 and the Hornady 134

These are great options with high BC and reportedly do very well on game.

I've killed a pile of deer with the discontinued 131 Blackjack Ace with a 25 creed at distances up to 600 yards with excellent results

25-06. Why? Because I have one! I use it alot, and confident with it. Nothing against the 6mm, I just don't own one yet.
