6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

Has anyone had any luck getting the 103 eldx to stabilize in a 9.25 twist .243. I have about 300 95 gr NBT’s left and they are not super easy to find around here. I was wondering if I should try the 103’s out or just go back to the 95gr Berger classic hunters

I have been able to get the hornady 105 BTHP to stabilize in the 1:9.25 twist

I’ve done the same with 105 A-Max. They shot well and killed several deer with those.

I’m in Canada so that won’t work. I can find them every now and then but the 103’s are definitely more common

Not exactly big game but a nice result. 16” 6 ARC Howa mini with 87 gr Berger VLD Hs. Muzzle velocity 2920ish, impact around 2700. Nice little handload with 32.3 gr Lever powder. Gonna try smashin some axis does with it.

Anyone shot both the 103 eldx and 108 eldm care to comment on similarity or differences?

Bc dosnt make a lick of difference within my effective range with either. Iv seen and shot a number of deer with the x and m line of eld and am curious if the 6mm acts similar to the 6.5, 30 and 22 cal offerings

Flip to page 2 to see my load dev on the 108 eldm. I settled on 45.0 grains of H4831sc. Pressure increased for some reason at 46.0 grains after about 220 rounds. My last 10 shot group measured .9”.

Could you be starting to have a carbon ring building up causing the pressure. I had a load for my .204 Ruger that started to show some pressure signs after about 400 rounds but accuracy was also dropping off. I thought my barrel was almost toast but I cleaned the ring out and everything went back to normal

I’ve never dealt with a carbon ring but, it is my understanding that if it is a carbon ring, it will continue to grow. When I dropped down to 45.0 grains due to my sudden pressure the rifle grouped tighter than at 46.0 grains and has a better SD (if your into that sort of thing). I think I am going to leave it alone unless it gives me a reason not to.

How's that gun balance with the 20" lite barrel and ab10?
