6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

I'm wondering if there's any other 95-100gr tipped bullets available in factory form that people have had good results with, other than the 95 nosler BT. I see Remington has a 95gr tipped core lokt in factory loads. Is that any good? I think Browning also has a tipped 95gr load.

Young doe, 6 Creed'. Barnes 112 Match Burner. Impact velocity of 2700 fps, DRT... Exit pic.

Do you have much other experience with the 112 MB? Some other posts seem wishy washy on them. I know the 108 eldm is the easy button, but I like to fiddle.

I only have a small sample size of a few kills between a hunting pard and myself, that being said we ain't going to fret anything and have zero reservations about continuing using them !! Especially considering how ridiculously accurate they are and that super slippery .620BC value.

I've been watching this thread pretty closely. One post mentioned they didn't get the upsetting they were expecting on 3 deer. Form brought up concerns with using them on elk. That was earlier on though, if I remember correctly. Your posts are certainly convincing though as are some others. I guess my biggest concern is that they might get splashy/explosive at close range? I killed 7 deer with the eldm this past season and was more than happy with the performance from 25 yards to 300. I was just curious about trying something else. I'll order some and give them a shot. Thanks!

Search that bullet in this thread. The results, along with photos to back it up, are anything but wishy washy.

I remember the post that @FlyingRhino is referring to. There's also at least one instance of the 6.5mm 140mb not opening up. I think that was from your buddy, right?

Those couple of reports have me hesitant to try the match burner on game, but I think it'd be less likely to be an issue on elk

Yeah the 6.5 on the sheep was concerning. The 112 variant was awesome for me on deer at close & far, as well as that moose at 525. I know I would still use with confidence if I built another 6 mm.

Sorry if this is answered but is it the general consensus that the 115 DTAC’s need the nose ring in order for them to be consistent in elk and deer?

The 223 / TMK thread convinced me to drink the juice and I am happy I did. Been hammering whitetail for 3-4 years with that setup.

I now want a 6 creedmoor. I haven’t looked through these pages yet in this thread but am looking for rifle recommendations. I bought the ruger predator 223 and love it.

Considering the ruger predator gen 2 6 creed.

Is that a group recommendation?

I bought a Gen 2 Ruger American in 6 creed. Stock magazine would not feed. I bought a couple magpul AICS mags and they feed fine. Ruger would only fix it if I sent the whole rifle in and I already had the optic mounted and zeroed so I refused. I can’t insert the magazine on a closed bolt, so I have to open the bolt and then seat the mag.

The trigger is not as adjustable as they claim. I could only get it down to 4.5 pounds and it feels terrible.

During break in with factory 108 ELD M, I shot a 10 round group, 9 of the 10 were under .75” at 100 yards. I called that I pulled one left and sure enough I did. Extreme spread with the flyer was maybe 1.25” or so.

I replaced the trigger with a timney for another $180, which does ok. Next time I will buy a tikka. By the time I buy a trigger and aftermarket mags, it’s no longer a good value.

That said the rifle shoots fine. Recoil is pleasant with a can and 30 oz night force optic. I’ve put it on steel out to 630 yards without issue.
