So I picked up a 6mm Creed rifle, planning to use it for coyotes and ringing steel mostly. Thinking I may want to do a hunt with it also, not sure on what to chase. Any thoughts on Mt.Goats with this round and either 103 Eldx or 108 Eld match most likely.

For those wondering if the 8" twist Tikka .243 is a typo, I handled one at Scheels yesterday. The T3x lite with 24" barrel was stamped for 8" twist.

The compact version had no stamp.
That’s interesting…I handled a couple of T3X Lites at Scheels in The Colony, TX just before Christmas in .243 that had no twist marked on the barrels.

So it appears the changeover is in progress and both old and new twists are still in the wild.

That's basically what I concluded as well.

I checked several others (6.5cm, 22-250, .270, .300wm) and believe the compact .243 was the only unmarked offering.

So unmarked is 10 twist and 8 twist is marked? I handled a compact model yesterday that was unmarked.

It would be pretty sweet to see 243 offerings updated with correct twists for the more modern bullets and then ammo makers follow up with new bullet load options as well.

So what would you shoot out of a 8 twist barrel for hunting? Would it shoot 95gr bullets better? I don’t see .243 bullets heavier that 100gr where I look.

105 -115 gr bullets

Berger VLD, Hybrids

I’m currently shooting 108 ELD-M from my 6XC 8” twist. Will be trying 105 Bergers soon

My wife shot her first buck with a 103 ELD-X. 293 yards right in the heart and only went 15 yards downhill before it rolled to the bottom.

She shot her second buck at 110 yards with a 75gr Vmax out of a 243 and dropped him in his tracks.

I’ve had some experience with the 75 vmax on deer. All in all very good. Never lost an animal with them. Have used it on about 15 deer and a few antelope. Only draw back is no exit and usually little blood if you need to track one. Farthest we’ve had one go after a shot is maybe 50 yards though. Closest shot was about 50 yards. Farthest was 650. I would not shoot that bullet at a deer that far again though. Had to put another round in him when I got to him.

I’ve got some 87gr v vax to load up and try out also.
