6.8 Western

This is fair point but I have not had issue getting ammo at Bass Pro or Cabelas around me for 6.8Western. The Browning 175 tgk tends to sell out the fastest so why Win will not make bigger runs or somebody else will not jump in with a different 175 offering is perplexing. Maybe Barnes will add to Harvest line since they are loading 155 lrx in Reserve line and were “surprised” it sold out 3 times. The small gun shops around me have poor selection of any hunting ammo/rifles as they seem to all focus on handgun/tactical stuff these days. In any case, Savage is adding rifles in 6.8 Western for 2026 so more coming on board

Now that Savage is making 6.8W rifles, I hope it leads to more supply.

The fact that hornady and federal do not make any ammunition for the 6.8 should tell you everything you need to know. It will die a slow death like the 270 WSM that they’re trying to replace to become relevant, but the fact is most premium gun manufacturers and the two main ammunition manufacturers will not build guns or ammo for it. Especially once Hornady comes out with a 6.8 PRC or 27 prc….whatever they call it will bury the 6.8 western and be the nail in the coffin. The 6.8 western is a fine cartridge. It’s just made by the wrong company.
Doubtful.

the wsm’s were fine too…but when their limited factory support on either guns or ammo side, cartridges die. Browning and Winchester are not a premium gun…the 6.8 western is akin to being diagnosed with a terminal illness. The slow death has begun lol

Ha Ha Ha. Browning X Bolts and Winchester Model 70's have had good sales for decades at premium prices. Plus, we do not see many people unhappy with their X-bolts.

My son has an ex Bolt and their Japanese bologna thread measurements are the stupidest thing ever good luck finding suppressors that will screw onto one dead air finally makes a muzzle break adapter for the jap gun

Decades is the keyword, however not in the last decade. They are a dead in the water gun maker. There’s way too many better options out there for people now. But yeah, decades ago it was browning Remington Winchester, Ruger, savage I’ll stick with seekins a premium rifle and a tikka as the bare minimum.

Your post indicates a lack of knowledge about Browning’s rifles.

1) It took me about 15 minutes to find a direct thread mount that fits my Silencerco Evo and any HUB compatible suppressor.

2) For a few years now, Browning has offer SR models with American thread patterns.

3) I have two Tikkas. I like them quite a bit. I sold my Tikka 6.5 PRC and replaced it with a Browning X-Bolt 6.8W.
  • The magazine on the Browning is better than the Tikkas'. It works perfectly and sits flush with the stock. On the 6.5 PRC, the Tikka's magazine stuck out about two inches. On my Tikka 223 and 243, the magazines are not quite flush.
  • My X-bolt’s has a better safety than Tikka uses. Like a Sako, it is possible to open the bolt with the safety on.
  • My X-Bolt's action is easily as smooth as or smoother than the excellent Tikka's.
  • All of my Tikka's shoot well. My X-bolt matches them.
  • The only area where the Tikka has a clear advantage is aftermarket support.
As for Seekins, they are a small company. I would describe their rifles as semi custom. Their base rifle is near 2x the cost of a base Browning.
