Anyone have any real life (not an opinion) of flying with a Sitka Nomad bag and their bow inside? Trying to avoid having to take my big SKB case and luggage. I bought a Nomad when it was on sale and it’s a good oversized piece of luggage but wondering about the actual ability for it to protect a bow when flying. I have to have a soft case on the hunt I’m going on too so I thought about putting my bow in it and then I’m the Nomad.

Any real world stories of using this would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have flown with my Nomad a bunch of times, Greenland , Mexico, all over US. Bag does not get charged for over size, your allowed 50lbs if you fly coach or 70 pounds if you fly first class. I love my bag it’s the only way I fly with my bow. I own a SKB case but every time I travel with that case everyone thinks it’s a gun, even though I archery equipment written all over it.

Thanks. Just what I was wanting. Just needed a little reassurance. I’ve experienced the same with an SKB.

I have had one for over a decade, love it....sold my SKB double after using it for a couple of years. I put my bow in a cheap Soft case in the bottom and pile gear in on top. As with any bow case, you want to have a packing system TSA can't Eff up. I have had mine all over the country and a couple continents- no problem.

The big advantage to it is its super light- 11# and with the 50# rule you can still get a lot of gear in there. One trip, a drop camp for moose, I had all of my gear, Bow, Full camp for 2, Food-everything in Two bags.

I’ve taken mine on several trips. The only problem I had is that it’s so big it’s hard to keep the weight under allowed limits.

Always take sight off and packed clothes and gear around it. Never been an issue.

Never been charged for oversize
