6.8 Western

This is fair point but I have not had issue getting ammo at Bass Pro or Cabelas around me for 6.8Western. The Browning 175 tgk tends to sell out the fastest so why Win will not make bigger runs or somebody else will not jump in with a different 175 offering is perplexing. Maybe Barnes will add to Harvest line since they are loading 155 lrx in Reserve line and were “surprised” it sold out 3 times. The small gun shops around me have poor selection of any hunting ammo/rifles as they seem to all focus on handgun/tactical stuff these days. In any case, Savage is adding rifles in 6.8 Western for 2026 so more coming on board

The fact that hornady and federal do not make any ammunition for the 6.8 should tell you everything you need to know. It will die a slow death like the 270 WSM that they’re trying to replace to become relevant, but the fact is most premium gun manufacturers and the two main ammunition manufacturers will not build guns or ammo for it. Especially once Hornady comes out with a 6.8 PRC or 27 prc….whatever they call it will bury the 6.8 western and be the nail in the coffin. The 6.8 western is a fine cartridge. It’s just made by the wrong company.

the wsm’s were fine too…but when their limited factory support on either guns or ammo side, cartridges die. Browning and Winchester are not a premium gun…the 6.8 western is akin to being diagnosed with a terminal illness. The slow death has begun lol
