6.5 PRC comes ALIVE with VV powder

Not really. I loaded 10x with each powder at 58.5gr to take out tomorrow and shoot for groups at 100/600. N565 had a bit more speed but I don’t know if it was a fluke or not. They both were still pretty gentle loads to shoot and didn’t hit pressure using ADG brass. I did load two more with N565 to see if I stopped just below pressure, the day I went out to do the initial pressure test the heat index went from 84 to 101 in about 70 minutes so I didn’t want to push it. Tomorrow morning it’s supposed to be back in the 70s at 7am so we’ll see.

Wish I could find some.

Finally got out to shoot some groups and test the last two pressure loads. Temp was right at 80 when I started, ended at 86 degrees with a heat index of 93.

N565 10 round velocity average was lower than expected, I don’t think environment were a contributor despite being ~10 degrees cooler than the initial test. Could have been my 5 year old helping me with the charges or just my own shoddy work 🤣
Group measured 1.02” with 8 of 10 in .793 and velocity meets mission.

H1000 velocity was spot on but the groups were 1.38” across 10 shots, more sporadic grouping compared to N565.

Not going to chase velocity with as well as N565 grouped today. Going to load 200 and just shoot.

I had some blown primers, that sneaked up on me quickly with mag primers. I could load at less pressure with std primers and could use a little more powder to get more velocity. Maybe just my rifle, but again Hammer bullets warned me about this with my PRC.
I would prefer to use my CCI 250 primers and that's why I started with those.
I can see that some may have different results. I would say try both in your rifle. Always, different rifles, temperature and other factors matter.

I shoot with Tikka 6.5 PRC barrel 24.3. I shot on different days with factory cartridge Hornady Match 147. The first time I thought that I accidentally made such a group, a week later I tried two more times and got the same results.

Good shooting! I have a Tikka Roughtech 6.5 PRC that shoots that load well also.
I took a good Axis back in May, one shot, down for the count!

Yes, I like Reloading more also, I ran out of time before the hunt, tried the 147 factory load and it left little to be desired, and it worked!

I do. Im at 2.970"-2.980" but they may or may not work in your magazine. Ive been up to 2.970" on some and they still cycle. Im sure its depending on how your magazine is manufactured for each rifle
