Hit pressure with RL26 before ever getting to 2900 fps. Tight bolt, extractor marks, primers getting flat.

Im definetely not saying that Im a proffesional hand loader. But ive been loading since i was 20 and im 48 now. When I can barely open the bolt and extractor marks are so deep they kick up a burr on the brass Im just not comfortable loading any farther. You probably can. But i just keep getting this mental picture of a bolt sticking out of my fact thats kinda hard to shake.

If so, what powder weight, velocities and what is your barrel length?

I used it with the Lapua Scenar 139 grn bullets and was over 3200 fps on the first run. So im sure 3300 fps would not be hard at all. Im guessing the 143 eldx will be really close in velocity.

I am. Initial pressure tests and velocities with 143gr ELD-X in the screenshot below. Progression was 52gr (shot 1) to 55gr (shot 7) in .5gr increments. As others have said the VV load max of 53.4gr is pretty vanilla; I did not get any indications of pressure and will be extending the loads up to 57-57.5gr this weekend.

I have a 22" barrel and was getting 2808 with the hornady factory ammo. I was hoping to get at least that. What is your barrel length?

Tikka factory 24.3”, factory Hornady PH rounds average 2850ish but the SDs are wide (+/-60fps) with the lot number on hand.

I used N560 with a Berger 140 elite hunter in my 20" 6.5 PRC last fall. On a brand new barrel I was getting 2,950 fps with 58.3 grains.

Might need to try N565 with the 156 as well. Although I'm limited to 2.955" COAL due to Hawkins Hunter mag length.

565 is the powder for heavy bullets out of a 6.5 PRC.

I had the opposite effect in mine, from new started testing Rem 9 1/2 with H1000 and got 2950 with a 140, it had pretty wild ES so ended up switching to a CCI 200 and ran with it at 2850. Approaching 200 rds so I plan to test the mag primer again soon and see if I can get the free lunch.

What happened to Staball?

He one shot his deer using it, but I think there should be more in that cartridge. I also learned I can use Staball HD in 22creed so I'd rather just find something "better" for him.

That has been the case with my Tikka Roughtech.
I called Hammer Bullets, they told me that would be the case, that proved to be true.
