6.5 Creedmoor/260 for Deer, Elk, and whatever else.....

Remington 700 Mountain wood/blued. I’m a 700 collector but love a Tikka just as much.
Nice gun, Remington has made some great guns over the years. That one probably has the 1 in 9 twist but will handle the mid weight bullets quite well. Mine is a lefty Tikka and it's been a great gun too.

I think it will make my 23rd 700….and counting. I seen a 260 Tikka stainless hunter I wanted on GB awhile back. Still kicking myself for not pursuing it. Can’t get a Tikka 260 anymore. Had a chance to pick up a laminate one as well. Several missed 260 opportunities!

Will there be any pics in here for next season, or has everybody migrated to 6/22?
Most likely, and no the vast majority of hunters are still discovering the 6.5 cartridges. Rokslide is a special place for special folks. Ask people what calibers they are using at the trailhead. If they say anything under a 6.5 for elk, or 243 for deer, I would bet good money they have a Rokslide account.

I've been shooting a creedmoor on and off for the last 5 years and my dad has been shooting a 260 Remington for the last 30 years with zero issues of course the biggest deer we kill here in the SE are 200lbs I'd have no issues with shooting bigger deer he shoots 140gameking I have been shooting the 130gamechanger

Was able to add one more with the 6.5 creed and 147 eld. Factory ctr 20” mv about 2620. First impact hit back, this was the follow up and kill shot. Slightly quartered away this was the exit side bullet was just under the offside hide. Impact velocity was around 2100. Before anyone states the obvious, I know the tag is attached wrong. It was moved after it was brought to my attention just did not take any other pics after the fact.

Does anyone have experience with the Berger 130 vldh or 135 classic hunter? Previous experiences with berger have been good for me. Looking at the 130 class bullet for the 18" 6.5cm. BC on both is better than the 130 tmk. Trying to eek out as much as possible. Are these still good down to 1800? I'm thinking they also may be a better choice at closer ranges/higher velocities, given past experiences.

I’ve been using the 130 VLDH for about 4 years now. 12 or so kills from point blank to 420 yards. All very effective and is shooting around .75 for 20 shot aggregate groups. Fits perfectly in quick drop also.

My contribution this year. 6.5 creed in a Kimber Hunter, 150 gr Accubond Long Range.

Buck #1 is a TN buck, shot at about 75 yards hard quartering to. Bang flop.

Buck #2 is a PA Buck shot at about 60 yards broadside. Bang flop.

3 WT does succumbed to the same rifle/bullet/load. Distance 20 feet to 50 yards. None went more than 30 yards after the shot. Bullets fully penetrated with much carnage between entry and exit.

Im not sure why the 6.5/150 ABLR isn't more popular in the 6.5s. I've prob shot 10-12 deer and an elk with that rifle and load. Elk was quartering to at about 50 yards. I tucked it inside her right shoulder. She went 75 yards but most of it was down a very steep slope, bouncing off trees. Bullet didn't exit but blood was very easy to follow.

I like the 6.5 creed so much, I rebarreled a Kimber Montana 84L to 6.5x55. It likes the 150 ABLR, 145 TGK. Im trying the 147 ELDM next. I 'spect it'll work 😁

Regarding the ABLR my guess is a combination of cost and it seems to have a reputation for being a bit finicky to reload.

Having said that its on my list to play around with this year. Along with some Bergers. I've never hunted with a Berger bullet before, for some illogical reason I have a serious itch to try some out.

I’ll be rocking 130 TMKs in an 18” 6.5 creed for any state that requires .243 min or I need range my 223 can’t make.
.223 except when .243 is required, then .264? Is that just because you don’t have a .243?

“Special” 😆

Yes sir shot several deer with the 130 vldh never had an issue. I will say though, based on my experience and examples from others, the 2000fps seems to be better threshold for the Berger style bullets. Personally, that’s where I try to keep them.
