.480 Ruger - Why didn’t it catch on?

44 is pretty cheap to load as well...and I own those

I can shoot squirrels with 44mag way cheaper than with a 17hmr....and the squirrels live a lot longer too!! :ROFLMAO:

I picked up a 6" 586 a while back. Didnt need it, but how do you turn down a $450 S&W? Never had a 357. Was shocked at the muzzle blast. I was thinkin that was going to be my squirrel plinker 2000. Hell with that stupid gun. Back to the 44's I went!

Taurus and Freedom Arms also chambered 480 wheelguns and TC made 12" Encore barrels for it.
I keep telling my buddy at Taurus to do a run of 480 Raging Hunters. His replies are usually to the tune of:

“We’ll sell dozens!”

Sadly, he’s probably right. I think that tiny corner of the market probably already has 480 or they are dreaming of the BFR or FA builds.

And it’s also hard for me to say I’d be a potential customer. I don’t reload and I’m happy with the Federal loads for 44 and 454.
