I did some shooting with my new Henry H010CC yesterday, shooting Hornady LeverEvolution 325 grain ammo.... listed velocity 2000 fps. I'm sure that's out of a 24 or 26" proof barrel, but my chrono is showing about 1800fps out of the 22" Henry. Seems like a lot slower than I would imagine..... I would think closer to 1900 fps. Anyone have any input? I'm including screenshots from my CA Ridgeline in 6.5 CM, and CA DMR CA-10 .308, 20" barrel, for reference..... those two seem to be about "where they should be ".

I don't want to seem hung up on the 45/70 velocity.... after all, it's a 45/70. Just curious why it would be 200fps off published velocity. Seems like a bunch.

Can't help with the velocity question, but I have a Marlin Trapper 16.5 in. bbl. and shot a hog at 167 yds. with no issue. Hit right where it should have and toppled it. With that big bullet I don't think velocity matters a lot. You might try getting an average of shots velocity. I've had factory .338 rounds have up to 150 fps. difference if from different manufacturing lots.

my marlin and my stepsons marlin do not like the 325s. we do get great velocity with 300 gr hornady HP.
both are accurate at 2000 fps but we cut back to 1900 for shoulder reasons.

i have even went to the 250 mono by hornady. i have no trouble getting 2100 but shoot it at 1950fps. might not consider it for elk, however. i would have to have some more use on it. in case you wonder about the 300gr HP--- it will go through 2 deer lined up.

some barrels are fast and some are slow.
