I have recently started working on my Browning A bolt 300wm and thus far I can’t find anything that shoots remotely a well as the federal blue box 180gr power shock.
I have tried 178eldx, 180gr interlock and 165gr interlock. With 4831sc and H1000 nothing comes close to those cheap blue box federals.
I enjoy reloading, I take pride in reloading and honestly I’d like to have something with a better BC than the power shock @ .438.
Before I swallow my pride and buy a case of them, are there any tips on a load that is similar but with a better bullet?
This is a 10 shot group at 100, no barrel cooling or farting around, load, aim, shoot.

I guess maybe I’m asking the wrong questions about this? Does anyone know the powder they are using in this load? I believe it’s a Speer bullet.

I just took one apart and it is 73.5 grains of powder that is stick powder but much finer than H1000 or 4831. The bullet is a flat base bullet.

I dont think they use the same powders available to us. But I believe the use Alliant powders. Reloader 16 would be my guess.

I think Federal uses Alliant powders in their ammunition.

Compare it to 22 and 19 and see if there are any similarities.

Give the Nosler BT and AB a try. They usually shoot good for me.

Thanks guys. I found a load with some 168tmks I had and H4350 that shot well. I’ll probably try to stick with that powder and try a heavier bullet.
