.25 Cal (Quarter Bore) / Big Game Success - 25 Creed, 25-284, 25-06, 25 PRC, 25 SAUM

25-284 shooting 134 eldm. Coworker has never shot over 100 yards and smoked this buck first shot off a tripod at 600 yards. Then I shot the buck on the ground at 804 yards. Love this thing.
What's your bbl length and MV out of that setup? Sounds badass!

Does the Sauer 100 stock shoot much different than a T3x stock?

I was surprised to find the same with the Sauer 100 6.5 I came into.
I took it to S2H last June as my "big" rifle. I thought "it's just a 6.5, I can deal with the stock..."
It was a PITA compared to a Rokstok!
I cut a piece of pine to fit the stock parralel to bore and taped it to the bottom of the butt like the Rokstok is. Not fighting the butt driving back and down made it easier to control and more fun to shoot.

Can someone talk me out of using the new 112 CX or 117 LRX as a primary elk rifle? Ballistics look pretty amazing and low recoil in a sub 7 lb setup. Was thinking a 25 PRC.

If I remember correctly in the wby podcast they were saying the 117LRX tip is different from any other Lrx tip. I think they said they were inserting the tip in the bullet then turning it down to spec afterwards. I assume to reduce runout. Should be a good option for shooters that require copper.

I’d look hard at the 117 or 122 McGuire bullet. I’ve talked to some guys who have used them quite a bit with fantastic results. I have the 117 loaded in my 25 creed. Shoots stupid good, hoping to get some pigs killed with it very soon

Those are pricey bullets!

I’m with you, best copper ballistics this side of a hard recoiling 7mm.

Of note, Hornady 25CM superformance is 3150fps, and 25 RPM is some how also 3150fps.

That Hornady factory load hits 2200fps at 560yds from a 20 inch barrel. Pretty ridiculous, almost identical ballistics to 7PRC

I’ve killed 3 elk with 6.5 120CX and all were dead in 50yds with one shot. 200fps faster (non tikka barrel) and .007 smaller is going to be fantastic

Yep exactly what I'm thinking. I haven't used monos on game but was thinking bullet diameter would be more critical than other bullet types. Glad the 6.5 worked well on elk.

Midway usa has r23 in stock
Thank you and it's $106 after shipping and hazmat.

I actually asked a guy on LRH to run a QL for me, and it turns out that N560 "should" be the fastest out of my setup. I bought a pound and am gonna give it a try. I attached the sims he ran for me for several powders for reference.

REM700 that I picked up used. Bedded the action, Timney trigger. Worked up handloads with the 120gr Sierra Gameking HPBT (discontinued but thanks to forum scouring I sourced 600 of them). Running right at 3100fps. Not bug hole groups, but consistently sub-moa out to 300 which is the furthest I’ve shot it.

I have only shot two pigs with it. They lined up and I got a 2 for 1 shot. Right at 100yds, bullet traveled through both piggies with massive damage. Brother in law was invited to a high fence ranch out in Laredo, Tx. He took a couple whitetail bucks, a fallow and a black buck. Damage was impressive and if they moved they didn’t make it far.
