25 the year for the 25?

I did some more testing last week and 56.5g of h1000 got me just under 2950 (2947 ish) from a 22” barrel. Good enough for me as my goal was 2950.

I’m just over 57. Maybe some crater on the primers but not flattened. No bolt lift or anything that I noticed. And that was about 80 degrees. I’m pretty happy with it.

One thing guys will want to do is test their load by taking a piece of brass and shooting it several times in with that load. So that the brass has over 5 firings on it with that load. A big mistake I see alot of people making is doing powder charge testing with a barrel that hasn't broke in yet or with virgin/once fired brass. Both those things will hide pressure by several grains. Once the barrel breaks in and brass is fired 5 times its a whole new ball game. If you get clickers you have a few choices. Back the load down, buy a micron die or buy a roll sizing machine. Eventually any magnum will get clickers regardless of die used. The die can only go down so far when it sizes. At that point either start over with new brass or run it through a roll sizing machine. I tested the 25-6.5 prc and 25 saum. With several time fired brass I got clickers at 2900+ w h1000 and 133s in the prc and 2950+ w the saum w h1000 and 133s in 22" barrels. These were with brass fired several times and micron dies. Their most consistently accurate loads were about 25-50 fps below pressure. Im talking 2-3"@900 consistently. My 300 norma improved brass finally got clickers at like 17 firings on it with mild loads. Primer pockets felt pretty much brand new. Ran em through a roll sizer and the clickers went away. I sized em to just over factory specs and don't get clickers even with 3 gr more powder. However the combination of this lapua 300 norma brass and a bat action hides pressure big time. So i know that when Im 3 gr higher im actually starting to get a higher pressure load. I roll size all my brass in every cartridge now after every firing. This keeps the dimensions of the brass the same from one firing to the next after sizing. When I roll sized my 300 nmi for the first time it dropped the velocity about 30 fps. Now its the same velocity for every firing. Doesn't slowly migrate up as more firings are put on the brass.

This is helpful. I'm going to put a few firings on some brass. Does it make a difference finding pressure to try some lower end brass? I'm going to get a few pieces of once-fired hornady from a friend to try. These ADG seem very stout and sometimes I don't know if that's hiding some pressure signs.....

use the stuff youll be using throughout the life of the barrel. hornady is straight up garbage for longevity. adg will hide pressure. by the time i hit pressure with adg on once or twice fired brass i know im several grains above where max should be.
