.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Intesting discussion (i did not read all) but nobody ever mentions that the whole point is to use ar 15 with several shots

Thank goodness you joined today and made this post. After reading through over 13,000 posts I had personally failed to realize the entire point of this thread was to use an AR-15 and shoot as many rounds as you can to put an animal down. Thanks for clarifying that for the group.

All clear for me now several shots from 223 will probably do same as a 180 grain at 3000 feet from what ever

Hopefully, posting this link is allowed. Don't have experience with this store but was sent a gift card. Scrolling through the offerings, they've got a Tikka 223 T3X Lite listed at $589. Going to be calling today to see if it's 1-8"

The sku they have listed when googled all come up as 8 twist, but never a bad idea to call and ask

If you call and they say that they aren't sure, ask them to check the stamp on the barrel.

From what I have seen, the older models with slower twists are not stamped. The newer models have the twist rate stamped on the barrel.

Just want to say I grew up near the original store location and this is a very well known and respected business. I’ve bought lots of gear from them over the years and frequently see people buy guns when they have sales. They started as a small family business and now are essentially like a smaller, more local version of Scheels. I would call to confirm the specs and then buy with confidence.

Another endorsement of Reeds. I grew up in MN. They're up in a big hunting and fishing area. Just purchased a 10/22 Carbon through them a few months back via Gunbroker and the whole thing went very smoothly.
