.223 for bear, mountain goat, deer, elk, and moose.

Have a 1-12 twist 22-250. Shots won’t be terribly far so BC not a huge deal. Deer and smaller game. Recommendations on bullets?
Sierra 55 grain SBT proved to be an excellent bullet for me in a 1in14 Ruger number 1. I killed deer from 25 yards to 200 yards. The bullet holds up very well for a traditional cup and core even at higher velocities.

That is more or less a game king bullet?

I think the best bullet for hunting deer with your current rifle configuration would be the Winchester 64 grain PowerPoint loaded ammo or the 50 grain TTSX. Keep your shots sub 200 yards so your velocity remains high. I'd suggest planning on a new fast twist barrel if you want to hunt deer sized game with that rifle.

It sure performs like one.

Yes, it is a Game King. Sierra 55gr GK is part# 1365. I have a box of the 65gr GK, but Sierra printed right on the box, “FOR 1:10 OR FASTER TWIST”. 55gr will be perfect for a 1:12 though.

I keep reading conflicting reports on using a 1/8 for the TMK, saying it doesn't "quite" stabilize it as well as a 1/7 and can have some problems past 400 yards.

Looking at a Criterion 20", wish they made a 1/7 just to soothe my nerves.

1/8 shoots them down here in Texas near sea level with all the environmentals working against it.

Bullets become more stable as they go down range. I’m using 75 ELDs (it’s longer and needs more twist than the 77 tmk) at a mv of 2600 and have good stability,

The vast majority of posters here are using a factory tikka barrel twisted at 1:8”. The label/box for the 77TMK says 8” or faster. I’m not aware of anyone ever posting here with an 8” twist and not being able to shoot the 77TMK.

Where are these conflicting reports coming from?

Can you show me the conflicting reports? I’ve never read one that says that.
