I keep reading conflicting reports on using a 1/8 for the TMK, saying it doesn't "quite" stabilize it as well as a 1/7 and can have some problems past 400 yards.

Looking at a Criterion 20", wish they made a 1/7 just to soothe my nerves.

Can you show me the conflicting reports? I’ve never read one that says that.

the fact a 1:8" or better barrel is thought to be needed to kill a damn animal is pure comedy

A 12 or 14 twist barrel neuters a 22-250 and limits the available bullets it can use. For those who don't get shots in their hunting area over 200 yards, a slow twist 22-250 and some 50 to 60 grain flat based soft points would be fine and a serious hunter wouldn't even need to ask the question. For someone interested in using heavy for caliber bullets and shooting longer distances (past 300 yards) on big game animals, yes a 1 in 8" barrel or faster will be a better killing tool for the 22-250.

He went about 6 feet. Very clean carcass, almost no bloodshot. Both bullets exited.

Getting me psyched up I’m really looking forward to my white tail hunt in SC at the end of the month. I plan to use my 223 for most of the hunt. Have to vet my 95 grain TMKs as well before I head to CO for late season rifle muley and doe antelope.

My new 1:8” tikka shoots AAC like this. I don’t think it’s a stabilization issue because some handloaded UM 77 tore a ragged hole there on the left. These are all 20 shot groups. Probably 90 plus degrees and high humidity in central/coastal Texas

I have a pri MK12 that shoots groups about half that size, but I don’t know if I’ve ever shot more than 10 shot groups with it. But generally speaking that gun shoots almost all AAC (OTM Sabre, and TMK’s) about a 1.5” ragged holes. Just different strokes for different guns I guess

That's pretty close to what my 1:8 does with a bunch of AAC loads I tried. 2"-3" groups if not a little over. ELDm does about an inch though.

Same exact experience here. Won't buy anymore AAC. ELDMs are great though.

Shot around 77tmk hole near the handle of the knife with a 300 weatherby hole in the ribs. Either would have been fatal. Made it about 10 yards. Thoracic cavity was a bloodbath but no pictures.
