Correct.Probably Texas if I had to guess.
From what I've gathered reading this thread velocity isn't the limiting factor at 400-450 yards, that yardage is due to wind drift.I would really like to see a version of the .223 and 6mm threads titled "below 2200fps impact velocity kills".
At this point, it seems pretty silly to dispute the ability of these bullets to wreck deer and elk at 0-400 yards out of guns sending them at 2700-3200fps. I'm much more curious to see the results filtered for lower velocities.
It's just a continuation of the "less recoil makes you a better shot." line of thinking.
If memory serves, that was a TMK, and I'm not sure we know where the lower limit is on velocity for that bullet. The others in this thread generally like to be above 1800, which seems to coincide with the 400-450, usually.Form posted an Elk with a velocity of around 1400 if I remember correctly, just most of us myself included suck at shooting compared to those guys even if we had the skills to call wind that well
Look for some Hornady match 73gr eldm(white box)Hi! Can't find any factory TMK loads, and have no reloading equipment.. In fact the only expanding 223 factory ammo I can find is the Hornady Critical Defense 55gr FTX. Would that work on roe deer? What performance could one expect compared to the TMK 77gr pictures in this thread? What maximum range for a 18" rifle?
Lots of loaded 77TMK. Look at AAC, black hills, and phantom defense.Hi! Can't find any factory TMK loads, and have no reloading equipment.. ^all of these. The 73gr or any of the ELD-M Hornady Match would be what I'd look for but there's an incredible amount of options for the 55gr stuff, too many to even list. If you want to avoid meat damage might could shoot something bonded at them like a Federal Fusion on the cheap, we just use our Gold Dots for hogs for example. Try some different types of ammo to see what your rifle shoots best.Roe deer are tiny, any common 55 grain soft point or tipped bullet will be fine out to any distance you can accurately place a shot in the chest.

Yeah, a 77 TMK might be a bit much for a Roe Deer. I think in a lot of places a large one is only about 70 pounds.Roe deer are tiny, any common 55 grain soft point or tipped bullet will be fine out to any distance you can accurately place a shot in the chest.
Yeah that's why I didn't bother posting links, but point being any of the 55gr stuff he can find that's similar should work, like the one poster I quoted said anything soft point cup and core or tipped I'd expect to perform OK.If he is hunting Roe deer, he is likely not in North America, so the availability of those recommendations is probably very limited.
I’m running 25.5gr at 2.418” COAL (0.020” off the lands). I haven’t run it over a chronograph, but reverse engineering it through JBM indicates around 2800fps out of my 19” barrel. Shot it two days ago on a pretty warm day. Zero signs of pressure. As always, work up and shoot at your own risk.Any info on the load data for that 75 over lvr?
Thanks for sharing. What barrel length? That’s 120 fps slower than BH in my 18” Tikka and 50 fps slower than the AAC in the same gun?Bone Frog 77gr TMK came in, their SMK shot better for me, but this will work.
